[edit]Whats the difference between this and the original Tetris?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.34.182.211 (talk • contribs)
- "The original Tetris" is Tetris 3.12, the mid-1980s PC version by A. Pajitnov and V. Gerasimov. Here are some differences I can think of:
- Tetris 3.12 runs on a PC; Tetяis runs on an NES.
- Tetris 3.12 has faster sideways motion (it's based on
mode con
settings). - Tetris 3.12 has only hard drop; Tetяis has soft drop.
- Tetяis speeds up more slowly.
- Tetяis has score bonuses for line clears.
- Tetяis rotates pieces in both directions.
- Tetris 3.12 has right-biased ISZ rotation and center-biased JLT rotation (same as the NES game); Tetяis has left-biased rotation for all pieces.
- Tetris 3.12 has only one possible position for a piece after rotation; Tetяis has two.
- Tetris 3.12 has no music; Tetяis has four BGM selections.
- Does this make sense? --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 21:42, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- I grew up with Tetяis and actually have trouble playing other earlier versions of the game. Tetяis was cleaner visually with solid shapes rather than shapes made out of standard size blocks. 68.13.6.96 (talk) 21:34, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Incomplete without the VS Tetris story
[edit]This article is incomplete if it doesn't include the story behind the officially Nintendo licensed version released for the VS System (basically a NES), this was then enhanced and ported to the NES.Dwedit (talk) 15:28, 15 July 2017 (UTC)
