the video should be realized soon, its expected for this week. someone should remove the cover on this article, witch is clearly fake, and the tracklisting witch is not confirmed206.49.165.171 (talk) 22:28, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An video is now available since 13 hours. Lol but in the article it's still not written. —Preceding unsigned comment added by N00bh4ck3r (talkcontribs) 00:37, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bad Reputation has not been confirmed as a b-side. This is simply a rumor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oli W 93 (talkcontribs) 15:05, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Every single is downloadable, this does not need any special citations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oli W 93 (talkcontribs) 20:29, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Final Video Single

[edit]

Does this mean that this is the last single with a video, or the last single from the CD? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.151.137.19 (talk) 22:40, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Similar to Girlfriend?

[edit]

The Best Damn Thing has no similarity to Girlfriend. That was said by people who don't know anything about music or who never listened to one of the songs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oli W 93 (talkcontribs) 18:27, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Who cares about germany? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.163.37.71 (talk) 03:05, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

a lot of people actually.. --Darth NormaN (talk) 07:51, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually it's the only country information about the release, etc. is given for, by the way: I'm from Germany! And I care about Germany. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oli W 93 (talkcontribs) 17:27, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

why is there no info

[edit]

Why is there no info about worldwide releases ? Could it be that is not going to be released in USA, it strange that the video was released February but till now there've been no physical CDs yet. Somebody working for CD store and has further information? --84.113.149.6 (talk) 15:23, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well the video was released on April 5th and as of yet there is only a German release. Avril may wait to see if the single is successful there before deciding to give the song a worldwide release.

As for whoever said that no promo has caused its low charting, well the single hasn't even charted anywhere yet since its release so how can that possibly be said? All of those chart positions were without any release. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Avril rulez (talkcontribs) 19:12, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's on the German Single Charts now: Number 64 Oli W 93 (talk) 20:00, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

So it as has No. 64 on its first week? It should rise considerably in the future. In the Austrian Top 40 its 51 of 75 at least. --N00bh4ck3r (talk) 17:01, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes but that's ahead of release. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Avril rulez (talkcontribs) 12:49, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bubbling Under

[edit]

I am going to remove the reference to the song's position at number 7 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. This gives confusing and misleading results to the reader, I had to go and look it up, being unfamiliar with US charts, and obviously then realised this is basically equivalent to position 107 on the Hot 100. I will wait one week if in case anyone can provide a good reason or argument that it should stay. Cjeam (talk) 00:17, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

But why should it go? Personally, I didn't find it at all confusing; The name 'bubbling under' Top 100 suggests that it is a chart for songs that didn't make it into the Billboard Top 100. If you really wanted to, we could add a little note stating that 7 is equivalent to 107? I just think it would be better to have that information seeing as the American chart is one of the big ones and while some people, like you, might find it a bit confusing, others, like me, will not. Do you see where I'm coming from? Zylo1994 (talk) 06:15, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well some of the confusion arises from Billboard's publication of many many different charts. Whilst the genre charts are instantly clear at a glance, 'Bubbling Under' is not. Furthermore it gives a false impression that the song charted higher than it actually did. Some discography pages include listings that are under #100 for the US charts:
For example technically this Taylor Swift - American Girl song should be listed as not charting, since The Billboard Hot 100 is used as the general US chart and so the song would not be on the charts. There is actually several cases of this on that discography page, and there the 'Bubbling Under' chart is used simply as an extension of the 'Hot 100'. (Which isn't technically what they are, but as the tables don't include chart run time it doesn't matter) This practice is logical in my opinion, despite not expressly following instructions on WP:CHARTS or WP:USCHARTS I suggest this is what we change it to, that the song reached 107 on the 'US chart' and add a note explaining that the song didn't chart on the Hot 100, just on Bubbling under, as on Taylor's page. However there is clearly confusion over how this should be used, as some song pages use below 100 listings and add a note (Taylor's) whereas other songs use the 'Bubbling Under' position. On discography pages, it seems below 100 listings are always used, as only one US chart is listed. I'm gonna add this page to discussion on WP:USCHARTS as I now think it needs further input.
Additionally: I just noticed there are no sources, they all need renewing due to Billboard's re-design, and now Billboard has stuck it's own archives behind a paywall. Oh joy.
Cjeam (talk) 14:19, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
PLEASE NOTE: I just realised WP:USCHARTS is not yet policy. Cjeam (talk) 14:25, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well if it's allowed to say that it reached #107 on the US charts and it isn't considered too vague then I think it should be done. However only in the actual table with all the other chart positions; I still think that, as you sugested, a small note should be added to explain that it charted at 7 on the Bubbling under and that this is more or less the equivalent of 107. Zylo1994 (talk) 15:15, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Based on the discussion I had over at WP:USCHART the conclusion was that bubbling under should never be included. Because:
  1. The chart isn't widely known outside of North America and is deceptive to users unfamiliar with it. (applicable to song pages)
  2. It is very difficult to find sources for the bubbling under chart position. (applicable to both)
  3. The US chart listings on discography pages link to The Hot 100, so a listing at 101-125 is contradictory. (applicable to discography pages)
This would mean that the bubbling under charts shouldn't be listed on song pages, or used as the position on discography pages. Cjeam (talk) 16:25, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay great so we'll change it to 107 and add a note about the Bubbling Under chart. Thanks for info.Zylo1994 (talk) 17:21, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, like I said the conclusion we came to was that it should be removed. I reckon we should remove the bubbling under inclusion from the chart table altogether. It's listed as being in the Pop 100 anyway. And the note and a sentence about it reaching 7 on bubbling under added to the text. On the discography pages I think I'm going to have a go at updating the sources. If I can find a reliable source I'll leave it's listing as being 107 on the US charts, and add a note. Obviously if I can't or can only find sources for the Hot 100 I'll have to take it off. Cjeam (talk) 13:43, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This is what I think this page should be like, more or less. Cjeam (talk) 14:25, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to chime in here and say that it should either be a) removed completely or b) be listed as #107. But I'm leaning more toward removing it completely since the basis of the chart is to list songs that almost charted. So having a chart for things that didn't really chart seems pointless to me. =D I just wanted to pop in and give an outside opinion. ~ [ Scott M. Howard ]:[ Talk ] ~ 22:40, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

genre

[edit]

How can this song be pop punk, powepop an and pop at the same time? When shall people understand that Avril isn't punk? Even Allmusic says that Avril is pop rock! "Avril Lavigne first appeared in summer 2002, touting an addictive debut single (the spunky pop/rock gem "Complicated") and a skatepunk image that purposely clashed with the polished glamour of mainstream pop". The image part doesn't make her punk. Punk isn't about fashion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Revilal90 (talkcontribs) 13:20, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Most artists (and songs, in this case) cannot be described completely under one genre. Opinions vary all across the music indursty, that's why we post each genre the song has been classified under by notable and reliable sources. It's not up to us to decide on ONE, it's up to us to provide all the information we can. Since the sources vary, we post all of them, and tell who said what. ~ [ Scott M.
