The Hole in the Wall Theatre was extant long before any subiaco structure - with people, directors and actors all involved who went on to careers in other places - it was not a 1980's in subiaco start by any means - either by sources or locations SatuSuro 06:39, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Detail and sources for that? Anyway, is this article about the original building, the site, or the theatre company? I think the intention is the former, but am uncertain. This needs to be made clear. I am still a bit confused over the history of the theatre company/ies though.
As I understand it, the building was constructed in 1956/7 as the Subiaco Civic Hall. It was converted to a performing arts venue in 1984 and became the home of HIWT at the same time (before that, perhaps SS can advise). Carmen Lawrence amalgamated the WA Theatre Company with HIWT in about 1992(?) when it became the State Theatre Company of WA and operated for a short time as the Subiaco Theatre Company.see p.251-252 I'm guessing that the State Theatre Company became the Black Swan Theatre Company in about 1992 which was recently (2008) rebadged as the Black Swan State Theatre Company.[1] (note that BSSTC is based in Nedlands)
The building was upgraded in 2002(?) and it became the Subiaco Arts Centre. It houses Barking Gecko Theatre.
