Edward the Confessor

[edit]

The King's Ely article states that "the school has produced a number of notable alumni, including Edward the Confessor ...". In my innocence, I tagged Edward as an alumnus of King's Ely in the Edward the Confessor article. My edit was reverted, and a lively debate followed at Talk:Edward_the_Confessor. The consensus there seems to be that Ely's claim on Edward is a 12th century fabrication. I would advise anyone interested in Ely's claim on Edward (and particularly anyone aware of secondary sources that support it) to take a look there. Piedmont (talk) 10:37, 27 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Trundle

[edit]

When did the current form begin? It was later than 1961, when I left, though the current wording suggests that it went back a long way. When I became a Kings Scholar in the late 1950s, it was rumoured that we had we had the right to bowl an iron shod hoop along the nave, though no-one had the courage to put this to the test. It would have made a fine din, though sound in the nave does not echo back but disappears, making it hard to judge low loudly you are speaking from the pulpit.TSRL (talk) 22:17, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Soccer

[edit]

In the sports section, shouldn't 'soccer' be changed to 'football'? Since this is British English? Perhaps I'm wrong, I'm new to this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Timeless99 (talkcontribs) 14:18, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
