I'm fairly sure the band are not from Brighton. The song "Latchmere" is about days at a swimming pool in Lambeth or Battersea (I can't remember which) which was near where they lived. TG312274 17:42, 14 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. It's in Battersea, and I know that one of the members of the band attended Alleyn's School in South London. However, the other band members may have originated from Brighton. I think a further source may be required. JoshHolloway 15:56, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not Indie Rock

Changing to alternative rock, solely for the fact that the label this band is on is related to UMG, one of the biggest labels out there. Obviously nothing independent about that.--F-22 RaptörAces High♠ 05:31, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Brighton

Another Maccabees band?

There seems to be at leat one other band called The Maccabees, who released an EP or album in 1997 called Songs From the Weakest Link, which is still available on Amazon and streaming services (which is how I found it). I assume this band is unconnected with the current Maccabees, and it might be worth mentioning in case anyone gets confuse.109.157.228.53 (talk) 13:05, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Maccabees in the Bible

An incorrect and unverified statement says that the Maccabees are not mentioned in the Bible but this is untrue, they are referenced in the Apocrypha Apocrypha and 1 Maccabees, which is included in the Catholic Bible as well as other versions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.24.220.141 (talk) 16:17, 25 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
