Lofthouse disaster

Was this film based on the Lofthouse Colliery disaster of 1973? I've just watched it, and parts of the plot seem similar. My grandfather worked down Lofthouse, but luckily had already hung up his boots by then. 86.27.240.99 (talk) 11:30, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
