merging the articles for the sub-topics[edit]

hi;

i'm creating this to discuss the mergers (proposed, potential, & past) of all the articles for sub-topics in this category into the main article (i.e. here).

i respectfully oppose such action(s). the topics have ample room for expansion as independent articles, and i do not see any great or special "virtue" in glomming everything together to create an all-in-one article. it makes it less easy for end-users to find the information they are looking for, and it makes cross-linking more difficult & complicated; both in creating the link, & maintaining it. there have been many, Many, MANY times when i have followed a cross-link into a merged article, & found that the word being cross-linked no longer has a subsection in the article, appears in a sub-section that has been renamed-reorganized & no longer connects with the cross-link, or does not appear in the article AT ALL. this is not acceptable practice; & at least until/unless we can back-trace & correctly-adjust all such cross-links, these mega-mergers are & will remain a (pardon the expression) WP:Pain-in-the-ass(!) :p
