Campuses Update

Good afternoon,

I am employed by Global University Systems (GUS) - the company that owns the University of Applied Sciences Europe (UE); my Conflict of Interest (please see my Talk Page for all COIs).

I am requesting the following updates to the 'Campuses' section:

For the Berlin sentence to now read: "Berlin, located on 3-5 Dessauer Straße near Potsdamer Platz and the original campus of the Berliner Technische Kunsthochschule (BTK)

For the Hamburg sentence to now read: "Since October 1, 2014, students have studied at the new campus Hamburg's Altona district at Museumstraße 39, between the nearby Altona train station and the River Elbe"

I've added the street numbers for Dessauer Straße and Museumstraße, although I think it's pretty pointless. I have not done the second re-wording request. Not an improvement. Updating of Berlin campus image

Good afternoon,

I am employed by Global University Systems (GUS) - the company that owns the University of Applied Sciences Europe (UE); my Conflict of Interest (please see my Talk Page for all COIs).

I am requesting that the image of the original BTK campus be removed, and replaced with the following image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:University_of_Applied_Sciences_and_HTK_Academy_of_Design_campus.png

Could the caption of this new image be: "The current Berlin campus location of the University of Applied Sciences Europe."

MrAttempt, I am concerned about the image which you uploaded to Commons and described as "your own work". That is only true if you actually took that picture. Did you? There's no Exif data with it which you normally find with a such photos and it appears to be simply an uncropped version of this image which is already published here. Well, MrAttempt, we can't use it unless and until that permission is verified. University of Applied Sciences Europe needs to follow the procedure outlined at Wikipedia:DONATEIMAGE to the letter and quickly. If that is not done, the image will be deleted. I also strongly suggest that you alter the image description to remove the untrue claim that the picture is your own work and accurately state the actual source. It is simply a waste of time to change to an image which currently has invalid licensing and a false description of its provenance. Voceditenore (talk) 13:41, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Why? The caption makes it clear it was BTK's old site and the article includes the history of the institutions before they were merged into the University of Applied Sciences Europe. Voceditenore (talk) 15:07, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

For now its relevance is fine, MrAttempt. When and if there is a properly licensed image of the current Berlin campus, I will add that instead. However, I see that you have still not corrected your false statements on Commons concerning the image's provenance and copyright ownership. Thank you for your help thus far Voceditenore, but I am confused. On Wikipedia I represent the University of Applied Sciences Europe. We took the photograph, are thus the copyright holder, and thus we have uploaded it accordingly.

The link you kindly provided takes me to text about uploading an image copied from elsewhere - which does not relate to what we are doing here as we have not copied the image; it is ours originally.

MrAttempt, that section is for websites/companies to donate their images which are already published on line, as this one is, albeit in a cropped version. You need to follow the instructions given in that section. Secondly, even if that image had never been published, its licensing on Commons must come from the copyright holder and this must be verified by an OTRS ticket if the copyright holder does not upload it directly but uses a representative such as yourself. And no, nothing in the information currently on that file is true. The image is not your own work. You do not own personally the copyright. You cannot release the rights to something you do not own. The permission of the copyright holder, presumably University of Applied Sciences Europe, must be verified by the process outlined in the section I linked. We do not simply take the word of anonymous uploaders that they have permission from the copyright holder. This is a legal protection both for the Wikimedia Foundation and for copyright holders and there are no exemptions from the required process. Once again, I strongly suggest you amend the false information on that file ASAP. Voceditenore (talk) 10:13, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Voceditenore. I'm looking into this now.. My thinking is that it would be better to delete the image uploaded and to have the person within UE, the person who took the image and is this thus the owner, upload it the Commons in-line with the criteria for an image already used online. We have processes we will need to undertake in the case of anything relating to legal and I doubt this will come to fruition within the 5-day time limit. Accreditation

Good morning,

I am employed by Global University Systems (GUS) - the company that owns the University of Applied Sciences Europe (UE); my Conflict of Interest (please see my Talk Page for all COIs).

Perhaps Voceditenore could offer their insight here?

The University of Applied Sciences Europe has a great many accredited courses by FIBAA for all three campuses - 47 in total. All courses are linked to their accreditation, but this would be a huge addition as a list to the page - which would not be appropriate.

As examples, Iserlohn, Berlin, and Hamburg, offer this FIBAA accredited course - the International Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The full list of UE's FIBAA accredited courses can be found on the FIBA website: https://www.fibaa.org/nc/en/procedures-at-programme-level/prog-according-to-fibaa-quality-standards/accredited-programmes.html (just use the North-Rhine-Westphalia tab).

My questions is, how would UE's accreditation be added to the article? Appreciating that it would not do to add each and every accredited course (47 in total via FIBAA alone), so perhaps a summarising sentence in the 'Programs' section?

My suggestion would be: "The University of has multiple courses accredited by FIBAA. These courses include: Business Law (FIBAA-Siegel) (LL.B.) , the International Master of Business Administration (MBA) , and Psychologie (B.Sc.) ".

Editors may feel other courses are more appropriate to mention.

It would be great to know Editor's thoughts and to know how to approach this. All help is really appreciated.

The degree programmes are accredited by FIBAA and ZEvA.

New Rector

University name change

The University of Applied Sciences Europe has changed its name to University of Europe for Applied Sciences. I am requesting that all references to the University’s original name be changed to its new one.

Logo change

I have attempted to upload the university's new logo twice. However, I am still receiving the following message:

"Thanks for uploading File:University of Europe for Applied Sciences logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Hi @MsAttempt:. Thank for your declaring your COI. I am not an expert in copyright images on Wikipedia, but after reading Wikipedia:Image use policy I have some ideas on what to do. You may also want to ask the Wikipedia:Help desk so someone with more experience with images can help.

The message above states that the image is not being used in any articles. Since this is a non-free image, Wikipedia will delete the file if it is not being used. Please address the concerns below and post a reply to this request. I or another editor will take a look at the file and add it if necessary.

The rationale section in the file is incomplete. The "Author" is blank, and the "Replaceability" and "Commercial" fields are marked with "n.a." These will need to be filled in with why this image fulfils that criteria.

Once the above concerns are fixed, please message below so an editor can decide whether to add it to the article or not. I have also included a declaration of your COI at the top of this talk page. Z1720 (talk) 18:29, 16 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi @MsAttempt:, I have uploaded the image to the article to avoid it being deleted after 7 days.

I have added "Replaceability" and "Commercial" wording based on the example in Template:Non-free use rationale. Please can you check and adapt as appropriate. I assume the "Author" is Global University Systems?

German Service Prize 2021 Award

Good afternoon,

I would like to request the following sentence be added to the ‘Programmes’ section:

“In February 2021, University of Europe for Applied Sciences was recognised by the German Service Prize 2021 Award in the ‘Service by phone and e-mail’ category for education. The award is organised by the German Institute for Service Quality.”

Hi Mstechvision, and thank you for noting this suggestion. However, your request is  Not done because I have some doubts about this award. The German Wikipedia raises concerns that the Institute's methodology has been criticized for being opaque, and there are concerns that winners pay a fee in association with receiving the award.
