Notability & references

[edit]

This article does nothing to demonstrate the notability of its subject. One of the references appears to be significant coverage in (for all I know) what could be a reliable source, but that is not a substitute for the article making claims about its subject that demonstrate the basis for inclusion in the encyclopedia. • I did a little work on the article, this subject does appear to have a claim for notability. What I cannot tell due to my lack of knowledge in the field is his exact research contributions -- it appears to include the use of "formal correspondence" in translating, based on numerous references to his work in google scholar to that effect. Hopefully this can be added. --Milowent (talk) 19:46, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • The Vjesnik source describes Ivir as "one of our greatest Anglicists" (jedan je od naših najvećih anglista) and "a legend in the craft of translation" (legenda prevoditeljskog zanata). (Vjesnik is probably a newspaper with the highest editorial standards in Croatia.) To me that's sufficient, but expansion would not hurt either. GregorB (talk) 18:06, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
