Why are you using for Monica Seles and Navrativlova two flags. If she played that year for US, use US, for Yugoslavia or Czechoslovakia, use seperate flags. --Göran Smith 15:56, 28 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, I have changed it (also Mandlikova) and added notes explaining it. Deon Steyn 06:05, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WTA awards page reliability

[edit]

Is the awards page at wtatennis.com reliable? If so, there are a few blanks that could be filled in on this page. I'm hesitant because there don't seem to be any press releases backing up some of the awards, especially in 2013. Please advise. —Hermionedidallthework (talk) 21:00, 10 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It looks to me like somebody screwed up on their awards page. The 2013 WTA Awards were given in November 2013 with no mention of a player service award in [1] or anywhere else I could find. The Internet Archive shows the awards page had no entry 28 November 2014 [2], but 15 March 2015 [3] it was there with a claim that Venus Williams won it in both 2012 and 2013. The only other mention I have found is in 2015 Australian Open preview notes [4] about Venus. I guess it copied the claim from the awards page. It makes no sense that a 2013 award had not been mentioned before 2015. Searches on the 2012 and 2014 player service awards to Venus Williams and Lucie Šafářová immediately give lots of results. The alleged 2013 sportmanship award to Petra Kvitova has the same problems. She did win in 2014 so in this case it looks like the screwup copied the 2014 winner instead of the 2012 winner in a misguided attempt to fill out "missing" 2013 entries in the lists after the 2014 awards were added. Yep, I did some of the same cursor searching with the same results for those two awards (Player Service 2013 and Sportsmanship 2013). In that case, the current state of the page seems like the most accurate solution. Now it's documented on the talk page, so hopefully this will clear up the confusion for people in the future. Thanks! —Hermionedidallthework (talk) 13:32, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why was this page recently emptied?

[edit]

That is, emptied of the information that the page was created for in the first place?

The fact that there are separate pages per year don't subtract or take away the need to have one overview of the whole thing. —Loginnigol (talk) 06:37, 24 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
