Re-structuring sections

[edit]

Hi. I've moved sections around a bit so that they make more sense (and to make room for future sections which could provide the context this article badly needs). Just keeping tabs of what I've changed, for everyone's reference. Thus far, I've

  • Created a new section to contain "Historical Incidents", so that the background section can be expanded - 8/3/17
  • Elevated "Tactics and Strategies" to its own section and elevated it to higher up in the article, for greater emphasis. I'm unsure whether "Strategies" need to be separated from "Tactics", or if one of them needs to be removed due to lack of reliable sources. But that can be determined at a later date. - 8/3/17
  • Moved up section header for "Military technology" so that it also covers infantry, cavalry, and artillery. These sections DO seem to describe technologies, rather than mentioning a historical disposition of specialized forces, so I think they're okay under that heading, for now. - 8/3/17
  • Changed "Naval forces" to "Naval technologies", still under Military technology. - 8/3/17
  • Moved down "Historical Incidents" section to lower in the article so it doesn't disrupt subject flow.

I feel that the article needs new sections to provide geographical and sociopolitical context, and a section to describe sources and the scope of existing academic literature relevant to the topic. I'll get started on that at some point, but if someone wants to get cracking at it, well and good.

That's it for now. Happy editing/revising/expanding/factchecking. - Alternativity (talk) 11:32, 3 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
