Some basic changes

[edit]

I had a go at putting some structure into the entry - I made a few tweeks to grammar etc and tried to make the chronology a bit easier to understand. Also added some detail re. album releases and fixed an error re. Tim V E's leaving.

It's only a start and there are still no sources quoted (but I'll work on that) but at the very least I think it reads better than previous entries and I'm pretty sure there's nothing in there that's wildly inaccurate. Feedback welcomed. Kevin Boyd 18:39, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Were or are

The opening says that they "were" but the box says still active. -- Beardo (talk) 06:00, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Waterson–CarthyWaterson:CarthyWaterson:Carthy was the original name of this page, and was moved without discussion for reasons which appear bogus. The name with the colon separator is the one used consistently by the band themselves and by informed commentators. For example see every one of their seven album covers viewable from their Musicbrainz discography, the consistent usage throughout the WP article itself, the Allmusic reference in the article, reviews in major newspapers such as [1] and [2] (though they add a space after the colon for their own Guardian style reasons), the major discography at Mainly Norfolk. I will go on if necessary, but I think those examples demonstrate that the original article title is not only the official title but the title most commonly used. Support - I can't see anything in the mentioned policies to justify the previous move. Also see https://www.topicrecords.co.uk/category/watersoncarthy/ and https://web.archive.org/web/20130623064300/http://watersoncarthy.com/ - Beardo (talk) 19:30, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also puzzled as to why the em dash was used, not as per WP:TITLESPECIALCHARACTERS? According to MOS:ENBETWEEN a hyphen should be used for "compounded proper names of single entities". Monxton (talk) 15:33, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
