Conflict of Interest tag

[edit]

Upon reviewing the information on the page, I vote to remove the conflict of interest tag. There is nothing here that can be construed as non-factual or specifically promoting the team on here. The information available is also available on the team website (I may possibly go through and put in the citations at some point, though I am also working on the main USL pages). Should there be anything that would be considered a CoI in the future, this might be an issue, but as of now I feel the tag is unwarranted. Mtndrums (talk) 02:12, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The conflict of interest tag means that the article contains material added by a person with a conflict of interest. Bflash has added a certain amount of information to the page which needs to be checked for accuracy with references to determine whether or not it is factual. For that matter, there aren't any reliable third-party sources in the article at all to verify any of the info. A quick check of Gnews shows some potential sources. Once that is taken care of it would probably be appropriate to remove all the tags currently showing. -- Atamachat 23:50, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've already checked the information, and it is accurate without being self promoting. If I can get time I can put the references up, however right now I'm knee-deep in doing other soccer pages on Wikipedia. I'll try to put those in there after the playoffs are over, but I have checked the information and it is accurate. Mtndrums (talk) 05:00, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've updated the page a bit, made it more NPOV and added some references. Perhaps the tags could come off now? Eliteimp (talk) 14:45, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Need help: breaking news

[edit]

The "Western New York Flash" introduced their brand to the locals this morning. I have edited this page to reflect the new name in the body, but need help with the "references" area (putting that stray reference link in the right area). If somebody smarter than me in this regard can do that for me, it would be a big favor. YellowAries2010 (talk) 18:39, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Colors

[edit]

I'm pretty sure the colors shown for the kits have not been updated for '11. I was looking at the roster photos, and saw the likes of Caroline Seger in a black jersey. Guess we'll see soon enough, as WNY takes the pitch tomorrow against Boston in a televised match. Somebody smarter than me will need to modify the colors on the kit template as necessary. YellowAries2010 (talk) 06:34, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like their road kit is black-on-black this year, based on pictures on the web site. I'll see what I can do with the template. Powers T 12:51, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Team sold & relocated

[edit]

fourfourtwo Equalizer

Question for Hmlarson, GrouchoPython, Koppapa, and anyone else - do we move this page wholesale, which I believe has happened with most NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL relocations, or create a new page for the relocated team, a la Washington Freedom/magicJack (WPS) and San Jose Earthquakes/Houston Dynamo? The potentially complicating factor in either case is the potential revival of the Carolina Courage name... For my two cents, I believe we should

Thoughts? CyMoahk2 (talk) 16:21, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I support:
If the new team uses the Courage name, then

Do not move page until the league (NWSL) makes the official announcement. If a team renames itself (like Phoenix Rising FC did last month), then do a move. If a team relocates, then create a new page. The original Carolina Courage page should be renamed either Carolina Courage (WUSA) or Carolina Courage (2001-2003), then the new page should be created and named Carolina Courage. GrouchoPython (talk) 21:00, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, of course, I wasn't going to move anything until anything official came out. I just wanted to start the discussion here on the talk page so that if/when things happen, any editor that's seen this discussion knows the plan and we don't have multiple people trying to do different things at once. CyMoahk2 (talk) 01:09, 7 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

BTW it sounds like the recently-trademarked name will be "North Carolina Courage" and not just "Carolina Courage", so while we may have a "namesake" comment at the top of the new article, I guess nothing will need to be moved after all. CyMoahk2 (talk) 01:09, 7 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

lead section

[edit]

Hi, @Hmlarson and CyMoahk2: can you please check the article's lead section. I am writing about the club in ar.wiki and i noticed some Misinformation about its history. first we have this line "won league championships in Women's Professional Soccer in 2012" then later " In 2012, the team was a member of Women's Premier Soccer League Elite ". which one is correct? --Mojackjutaily (talk) 17:47, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WNY's championship in 2012 was in the WPSL Elite - they won WPS the year before, 2011 CyMoahk2 (talk) 00:28, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
( @Mojackjutaily: - should have tagged when responding earlier) CyMoahk2 (talk) 00:31, 14 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
