Wife of William Drury

[edit]

The statement that the subject of this article married Elizabeth Stafford appears to be in error. According to the online ODNB he married:

Margaret (d. 1587), daughter of Thomas Wentworth, first Baron Wentworth of Nettlestead, and his wife, Margaret, and widow of John Williams, first Baron Williams of Thame. The couple were to have three daughters.

The Sir William Drury who married Elizabeth Stafford was Sir William Drury (1550–1590). NinaGreen (talk) 21:35, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Have added reliable sources, and fixed most of this. NinaGreen (talk) 04:02, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Husband of Elizabeth Drury

[edit]

In the family for Sir William Drury (1527-1579) it lists his daughter Elizabeth as having married William Cecil, 2nd Earl of Exeter. However, if you go to William Cecil's page and look at his wife's information it lists her as a daughter of Sir William Drury (1550-1589) by his wife Elizabeth Stafford (c. 1556-1599). Obviously given the similar names, there has been some confusion, however, is there any information, such as marriage records, wills, or similar, to disentangle the two families? There is some information suggesting that one of the Elizabeth Drurys (most likely daughter of Sir William [1527-1579]) married a man named Robert Hartwell in or around 1591 in England. The Hartwell Family: An Account of the Descendants of William Hartwell, of Concord, Mass. lists the marriage and children of Robert and Elizabeth as: Jasper, William, Richard, John, Francis, Fana (s.p.), Dousa, Elizabeth, and Anna. 73.97.252.126 (talk) 05:46, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
