NSW conviction
[edit]This blog entry makes the claim that Eyes was convicted in July 1844 for assaulting a young girl. Whilst 'William Henry Eyes' is not a very common name, there could of course be case of mistaken identity. What convinces me, though, that we are talking about the later Marlborough politician is that Eyes did leave Australia a year later on the Star of China in the company of his cousin, Reverend C. Reay. I shall thus add this to his biography based on the newspaper articles that I could find. Schwede66 01:15, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
