I added an in-text note on the page, but I thought I'd mention it here also. The Virginia state historical marker denoting the location of Barbee's birthplace is located literally feet from the Page County-Rappahannock County line, on the Page County side (see this page for more information); it's unclear in which county, exactly, the house stood. The Smithsonian American Art Museum has a display label on Fisher Girl which claims that he was born in Page County.
