William Sandys 'Waterworks Sandys' → ? – The title of this article looks very odd in terms of WP style. I can't see anything to support this style e.g. at WP:NICKNAME. He was indeed known as "Waterworks Sandys". How about William Sandys (Waterworks Sandys)? Perhaps we can put the nickname in lower-case and make it a normal occupational disambiguator, William Sandys (waterworks)? LookLook36 (talk) 16:42, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
- Move to William Sandys (Evesham MP). Our usual disambiguator in this instance. We don't usually disambiguate by nicknames. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:44, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
- In that case, William Sandys (MP for Evesham) is the style. However, he seems to have been better known for waterways engineering than for politics. LookLook36 (talk) 22:43, 9 October 2019 (UTC)
- Nope. It's William Sandys (Evesham MP); the other style has sometimes been used in the past, but it's unnecessarily long. But was he actually a waterworks engineer, or was he a politician/landowner who sponsored waterworks construction? If it's the former, then William Sandys (waterworks engineer) would be appropriate. -- Necrothesp (talk) 08:38, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
- He appears to have been the actual engineer, rather than merely a sponsor - he's listed here (for the Avon works 1636–9) in a column titled "Engineer". LookLook36 (talk) 14:03, 10 October 2019 (UTC)
