XAS and XAFS
[edit]It seems to be that this article is not really describing XAS, but mainly XAFS instead.
XAS can in deed include XAFS but it should be better distinguished. XAS is more like a superior group label for absorption spectroscopy. Maybe a useful way to separate is, that XAS is particularly looking for the "disappearance" of photons due to absorption. Also is it not needed to have monochromatic light for XAS, while for XAFS it is needed (with some exceptions like the method used at ID24 in Genoble.) XAFS to the contrary is only specifically concerned with the fine structure (or so called "oscillations" in the proximity of an absorption edge. It can be separated in to XANES (=NEXAFS) and EXAFS. Again, XAFS can be considered as part of XAS, but the Article does not describe XAS, but rather the special case of XAFS.

External links modified
[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just modified one external link on X-ray absorption spectroscopy. Please take a moment to review my edit. If you have any questions, or need the bot to ignore the links, or the page altogether, please visit this simple FaQ for additional information. I made the following changes:
- Added archive http://web.archive.org/web/20110722032112/http://xafs.org/Tutorials?action=AttachFile&do=view&target=Newville_xas_fundamentals.pdf to http://xafs.org/Tutorials?action=AttachFile&do=view&target=Newville_xas_fundamentals.pdf
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}

[edit]about what XAS is: X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS) is a versatile tool for chemistry, biology, and materials science. By probing how x-rays are absorbed from core electrons of atoms in a sample, the technique can reveal the local structure around selected atoms.[1]

Figure 2
[edit]it should be "absorption" not "absorbtion" within the figure 2. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.149.53.143 (talk) 08:53, 19 November 2021 (UTC)
