5x expanded by Muboshgu (talk). Self-nominated at 05:09, 28 February 2016 (UTC).

  • @Muboshgu: Expanded 5x from Feb 26-27, then nominated, so good there. Prose is long enough. Article is neutral and makes extensive use of inline citations. The hook is a good length, but the wording might need to be slightly tweaked to perhaps mention that Virdon was a baseball player (maybe his positions, too) and manager. Doing this might grab peoples' attention better. The hook is supported by a citation (and the citation is verified). The hook is also neutral. The image is free, is used in the article, and works fine when small. There appear to be a few minor wording copying issues (see here). A couple easy wording changes could get that fixed quickly as they really are minor. Other than that, it looks good. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 19:24, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
  • @Nihonjoe: You were right to call out the paraphrasing issue. There were a few phrases that I took too closely from the source. I've rewritten them now, some of them (like the names of leagues and teams, awards) are unavoidable. I'm okay with this hook or any suggested tinkerings, but was mostly concerned about the hook being too long. (The proposed hook above is already 111 characters long.) – Muboshgu (talk) 19:37, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
  • ALT1... that baseball's Frank "The Trader" Lane said that trading away Bill Virdon (pictured) was the "worst trade [he] ever made"?
  • @Muboshgu: It wasn't the awards and league names I was worried about (I agree that those are pretty much unavoidable). The changes you made are good and have fixed that concern. I like ALT1 better. QPQ is good. I don't see any other problems. Good to go! ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 19:43, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
