Created by Johnbod (talk) and Wwbread (talk). Nominated by Johnbod (talk) at 15:28, 18 December 2016 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: No - The source has the quotation as "protest" rather than "complain".
  • Interesting: No - I found the hook difficult to understand initially but I suppose it may then intrigue some readers
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: We're spoilt for choice for the picture. The one selected seems bland and so I prefer others like the snuff box children or the lead. That's a matter of taste, of course. Andrew D. (talk) 19:19, 26 January 2017 (UTC)

  • This is translated from the Chinese; do you think there is a substantive difference? The penultimate para on the previous page 8 in the source gives more context. Suggestions as to how to get the hook clearer at tweet length are welcome. Few of the pictures work well at DYK microdot size; at least this has a shape, and is a very good pic when enlarged. But there are plenty of possible alternatives. Johnbod (talk) 19:25, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
  • "Complain" seems a reasonable synonym for "protest" but aren't we supposed to follow the translation of the source literally? I don't have any suggestions for making the hook clearer and am happy to defer to John's choice of picture. The exactness of the quote was the main issue. Andrew D. I don't really mind changing it to protest, but I think it may be more confusing in the very brief context of a hook. Johnbod (talk) 11:45, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
  • This nomination seems to have stalled. The article is new enough and long enough. Going with ALT1 which uses the exact quotation in the source, and striking ALT0 which does not. The article is neutral, Earwig is clear, and I detected no policy issues. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:50, 10 February 2017 (UTC)
