Christmas With Friends (India.Arie and Joe Sample album)

[edit]
  • ... that American pianist Joe Sample died from mesothelioma prior to completing his parts for the collaborative Christmas album Christmas With Friends with India.Arie? Source: "It was because of Joe Sample. I was not trying to do a Christmas album, I just really wanted to work with him, and this seemed to be the best way because the songs were already written. He was always one of my heroes, so it was a dream come true for me. But he got sick while we were [making the album], and after he passed away in September 2014, we came back this year and did all of the guest appearances." Essence.com
    • ALT1:... that Christmas With Friends was American pianist Joe Sample's final album before his death in 2014? Source: "Joe Sample passed away in September 2014, and India.Arie won’t be presumptuous as to how Christmas with Friends will contribute to the late musician’s legacy. But she recognizes the gravity of their collaboration. “It’s an honor to be the gatekeeper to what we believe is his last recorded work.” Ebony.com

  • New enough, long enough, and well-sourced. Earwig's Tool shows red on the credits list, but per the copyright FAQ I think it falls under simple factual information without creativity so it should be ok. Also, it is explicitly stated in the text and sourced. If there's room, I think it would be better/more informative if the hook stated the album is a cooperative effort with India.Arie (other than that small gripe it's basically good to go).
The only other thing I want to suggest is, under "Background and recording" there's a couple of lines at the end of paragraph one about which songs Sample plays piano for, and how Arie modeled her vocals after that. I think that would fit better under "Composition and collaborations", because it's less about the recording process and more about the composition of the songs. No problem if you disagree and I certainly will still pass the DYK if you don't want to change it. ♠PMC(talk) 01:17, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
  • Thank you for your comments! I have revised the first hook to better reflect the collaborative aspect of the album as I agree that it is important to note. I agree with your suggestion, and will make the appropriate changes in a few moments. Thank you again! Aoba47 (talk) 02:59, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
  • Nice, I think we're good to go with the original hook then! ♠PMC(talk) 03:06, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
