EA Access[edit]

  • ... that shares of GameStop fell over five percent after the announcement of EA Access?

Created by Chambr (talk), McDoobAU93 (talk). Nominated by 23W (talk) at 21:40, 30 July 2014 (UTC).

  • Comment If I had to choose, the primary hook sounds better. ALT1 would be better if EA Access was taking off significantly, but right now it's too soon to tell. --McDoobAU93 21:47, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
  • Comment I like the primary better. I also agree with McDoobAU93 that the second would be better if EA Access was taking off, but it is in beta now. Chambr (talk) 22:45, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
  • New (30th), long enough, neutral, no copyvio found via spot check, no QPQ necessary. Hooks check out and are sourced, but are not very interesting. Could you perhaps dig up a new hook? Maybe something that firmly links EA Access to GameStop or to PlayStation Now? The link is tenuous in the WP article's text. Please ping me if I don't respond. czar  21:50, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
  • Here's a few desperate ones:
  • ALT2: ... that shares of GameStop dropped five percent after the announcement of EA Access, although a similar drop was observed after the announcement of PlayStation Now?
  • ALT3: ... that Gold-level membership of Xbox Live is required for use of any multiplayer features that are included in EA Access-enabled games?

It's not particularly interesting that a company known for its used game sales would be hurt after the announcement of a competing digital service. A lot more has been written about this since the initial stuff used in the article so perhaps there's something there? Perhaps something about how Sony turned down EA Access as poor value but then charged the same price for a four-hour rental? Should be a few sources for something like that, and it's hook-y enough to pull people into the article. czar  16:47, 2 August 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply; I couldn't find anything about price comparisons that went along the lines of what you said. More was added to the article by McDoob, so here's two more:
  • ALT4 ... although it was pledged that games added to EA Access are not to be removed at a later date, its terms of service allows for the removal of titles within 30 days' notice?
  • ALT5 ... that unlike traditional game demos, the upcoming EA Access lets its users play time-limited full versions of its games prior to release?

Good stuff—thanks. I think ALT4 is a bit too nitty gritty for a hook. ALT5, ALT1, and the main hooks check out and are good to go. I prefer ALT5. (Also might want to clarify for the main, or at least for the article, that the stocks fell over five percent.) czar  14:42, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
Got it; thanks for the feedback. 23W 19:34, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
I'd be good with ALT5 as well. Original is pretty known to anyone reading gaming press, but based on perceived biases in gaming media, ALT5 may not be. --McDoobAU93 19:44, 8 August 2014 (UTC)
