Ernest Melville DuPorte
[edit]... that Canadian entomologist Ernest Melville DuPorte was described as "a father of confederation for entomology" by Robin Stewart?
Created/expanded by Mindmatrix (talk). Nominated by LlamaAl (talk) at 01:30, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- ALT1: ... that Canadian entomologist Ernest Melville DuPorte had taught more than half of Canada's practicing entomologists by his retirement?
- The article is long enough and only a day old. It is properly referenced, including the hooks. The image, however, is copyrighted so I cannot approve this nomination. I would suggest dropping the image and considering possible alternative hooks (though there is nothing wrong with the already propose ones): Surtsicna (talk) 02:20, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
ALT2 ... that Ernest Melville DuPorte, "a father of confederation for entomology", was the first Black Canadian to teach at a college?- I'm not sure if this is true, but it's not what the source says. The source states Macdonald College, part of McGill University. I'll strike this one, and add a modified version as ALT4. Mindmatrix 03:02, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- ALT3 ... that the Canadian entomologist Ernest Melville DuPorte was registered as a Person of National Historic Significance?
- ALT4 ... that Ernest Melville DuPorte, "a father of confederation for entomology", was the first Black Canadian to teach at McGill University?
- It is alright now. My favourite is ALT4, as it is the most hooky and most inclusive one. Surtsicna (talk) 03:08, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- (ec) I was adding a few more while you were approving this. Do any of the new ones change your opinion? Mindmatrix 03:11, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- ALT5 ... that Ernest Melville DuPorte helped establish the Institute of Parasitology based on his research into agricultural animal parasites?
- ALT6 ... that many students had to repeat Zoology 220 taught by Ernest Melville DuPorte at McGill University, including some of its future professors?
- ALT7 ... that former students of entomologist Ernest Melville DuPorte at McGill University paid for a trip across Canada for his retirement?
- ALT8 ... that Ernest Melville DuPorte, the first Black Canadian to teach at McGill University, was born in Saint Kitts and Nevis?
- Of the four new ones, I find ALT8 to be the hookiest. It sounds just as hooky as ALT4. If it were up to me, I would pick one of those two. What do you think? Surtsicna (talk) 03:17, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
