Flare gun
[edit]- ... that a flare was fired from a Very light gun into a D.F.W. two–seater, destorying the aircraft after it had been forced to land, on 19 October 1918 during the Sinai and Palestine Campaign pursuit to Aleppo?
- Comment: The flare gun was fired from a No. 1 Squadron RAAF aircraft after the German pilot and observer had moved to safety.

- Two big problems jump out with just a quick look. First, there is no link to the nominated article in the hook (Wikipedia:Did you know#hookformat). Second, since August 9, 2012 the nominated article has only been expanded from 2290 characters of readable prose to 2784 characters (1.22x). DYK requires a 5x expansion for articles that have not been created in the last 5 days (See Wikipedia:Did you know/Supplementary guidelines#Supplementary article length rules for information on how to calculate article length and size of recent expansion). --Allen3 talk 16:15, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
