Friedrich Wilhelm von Seydlitz

[edit]

Improved to Good Article status by Auntieruth55 (talk). Self-nominated at 16:57, 6 May 2017 (UTC).

  • Recent Good article. The article and hook are referenced. No copyright or neutrality issue detected. QPQ not needed. However, the beginning of the hook is extraneous. How about just removing it? See ALT1. @Auntieruth55:.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 21:40, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
  • ALT1:... that Friedrich Wilhelm von Seydlitz acquired a superb mastery of horsemanship, once riding a wild stag and another time riding between the sails of a windmill in full swing?Source:: Lawley, Robert N (1852). General Seydlitz, a Military Biography. W. Clowes & Sons, p. 3.
  • Support the shorter ALT1. — JFG talk 06:39, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
  • Can you give this a tick? Since I suggested the ALT1, I can't make the final approval.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 17:43, 13 May 2017 (UTC)
Done. Sorry, I'm still learning the process here. Thanks for the hint. — JFG talk 02:50, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
  • @KAVEBEAR: if all you did was shorten the hook, you can certainly approve the ALT. Here's a tick for you. Yoninah (talk) 23:13, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
  • Hi again. I came by to promote this, but do not see anything about a "wild" stag in the book source. It says he rode the stags in the Margrave's park – that would seem to mean they weren't wild, no? Yoninah (talk) 23:23, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: Royal hunting parks were just enclosed/constructed wilderness. But you are right, the sources don't refer to them as wild. Could you maybe just remove the wild part? @Auntieruth55: --KAVEBEAR (talk) 23:36, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
  • I'm okay with taking out wild. Although @KAVEBEAR: is right: in the margrave's park the would all be wild. 72.77.38.32 (talk) 16:00, 17 May 2017 (UTC) And I'm okay with just using riding between the windmill sails in full swing. Sorry I forgot to sign in above. auntieruth (talk) 16:02, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
  • @Auntieruth55: OK, thanks. We'll let the promoter decide between ALT1 and ALT2, both of which are approved. Yoninah (talk) 20:12, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
