Jason Rezaian

  • New enough, long enough, article is stable and the hook is cited. What concerns me here, however, is the notability of the subject. Mr Rezaian seems to be only notable for one event, his kidnapping, and at least according to the article, the issue got less than 3 weeks of media coverage. I'm not a subject matter expert on WP:NOTNEWS or WP:ONEEVENT, so i'm afraid i'm going to have to wait for some comments either justifying this article's continued inclusion on wikipedia, or expansion of the article with on-going media coverage, before i'm happy to pass it. If someone more experienced in the matter wants to pass it in the meantime that does not bother me. Freikorp (talk) 11:20, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
  • This issue has not received "less than 3 weeks of media coverage." It's been continually covered in one form or another since his arrest more than 2 months ago. The Iranian President has addressed the matter[1] as well as the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon[2] and a host of U.S. officials. It's developing into another point of friction in U.S.-Iran relations. Clearly notable. Plot Spoiler (talk) 14:47, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
  • I didn't say it received less than 3 weeks media coverage, I pointed out the article only contained less than three weeks of coverage of the incident. Up until your latest edit, which added one source date 19 September, all the sources in the article were dated between 24 July and 12 August. If this subject has been "continually covered" for more than two months, maybe you should work on adding some more of the coverage to the article. As i've pointed out, Rezaian himself is not notable, rather it is his kidnapping that is notable. Therefore I believe this article should be moved to "Kidnapping of Jason Rezaian", and rewritten accordingly. Still happy to hear a third opinion on the matter. • Those articles have a fair bit more ongoing coverage, which gives them their notability, but I suppose this whole thing may not be an issue for DYK per se. The hook is cited, and the article otherwise meets the requirements, so i'll let the closer decide. Freikorp (talk) 02:59, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
