Katie Hill, Clare Nott, Sarah Stewart (basketball)
[edit]( Back to T:TDYK )
( Article history links: )
*... that wheelchair basketball players Katie Hill (pictured) and Clare Nott received $11,000 from the Australian Sports Commission while their teammate Sarah Stewart received $17,000?
Created/expanded by LauraHale (talk), Hawkeye7 (talk). Nominated by Hawkeye7 (talk) at 07:14, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- 5x expansion on 3 articles verified. Date, length OK, well-referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. However, the hook fact is only mentioned in the Sarah Stewart article. It needs to be included and cited in the other 2 articles as well. Additionally, there are way too many red links in the Paralympic section of Katie Hill and Clare Nott. If you are not planning on writing these articles, please de-link them. Regarding the photo, it is not easily visible in the small format on the DYK page. Are you able to use one of the players' official photos, which is much clearer? Best, Yoninah (talk) 18:56, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
- All three of their team photos are usable. The APC donated them with a CC licence.
- New hook still needed. Consider this a friendly reminder... BlueMoonset (talk) 03:02, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
ALT1: *... that Katie Hill, Clare Nott and Sarah Stewart are all members of the Australia women's national wheelchair basketball team that won the bronze medal in Wheelchair basketball at the 2008 Summer Paralympics and the silver medal in Wheelchair basketball at the 2012 Summer Paralympics?
- Not even close at 257 characters even eliminating the names of two of them by DYK rules. Maybe you forgot to pipe some of the links? Here's a version with piped links that comes in at 202 characters before subtracting the count for two of the three article names:
- ALT2: ... that Katie Hill (pictured), Clare Nott and Sarah Stewart are all members of the Australia women's national wheelchair basketball team that won the bronze medal at the 2008 Paralympics and the silver medal in 2012? —BlueMoonset (talk) 22:02, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
- Per this supplementary guideline, the hook was not too long. Thine Antique Pen (talk) 22:04, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
- If you mean ALT2 is not too long, that's indeed correct. Is it okay with you and the others? Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 22:32, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
- Fine with me. Thine Antique Pen (talk) 10:51, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
- A new review of the three articles is needed to confirm that previous issues have been addressed, plus ALT2, the new hook, needs examination. Thanks! BlueMoonset (talk) 14:27, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
- Nothing much has changed in the 3 articles since I reviewed them – they are all new enough, long enough, well-referenced, no close paraphrasing. However, there are still way too many red links in the Katie Hill article. After those are cleaned up, the new hook is ready to go. I added "pictured" and replaced the original image with the new one. Yoninah (talk) 17:17, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
- Yoninah, I should point out that there is no DYK rule about red links, and you should probably take a look at WP:RED before continuing to withhold approval from this article. I count six redlinks, all of which are for national wheelchair team articles that could well be introduced in the near future; the blue-linked Australian team already exists. If you really think some are problematic, then rather than make the nominators guess which should go and which can stay, take out the ones that need to go and pass this. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:40, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
- I hear you and I understand the policy, but I believe the mass of red links in a rather short paragraph is quite distracting. And as the page creators are busy creating wonderful articles about Australian athletes, I think it unlikely that they will soon create pages on the German/Brazilian/Dutch/Canadian/Mexican/U.S. women's national wheelchair basketball teams. I went ahead and removed the red links from Katie Hill for now, and am happy to approve this hook. ALT2 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 08:43, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
