Messers Run, Negro Hollow[edit]

Satellite map of Messers Run

  • ... that according to a 1997 report, Messers Run is an excellent site for angling upstream of the Lofty Reservoir, but a poor site for angling between the Lofty Reservoir and the Blue Head Reservoir?

  • - Comment, Messers Run is infertile and acidic upstream of the Lofty Reservoir. - I don't know what that means. You also do repeat yourself a lot in this one, which I didn't think you did in your other DYK nomination. Let's take out the interstate and trim down the surrounding townships a bit? Can Biology be Ecology, given that the river itself is...a river. The only truly catchy hook I can pull from here is:
  • ALT1: ... that the only named tributary of Messers Run (map pictured) is called Negro Hollow?
  • And before anyone mentions it - the state of wild trout in American rivers is actually quite important to some people. Save the whales! Etc. PanydThe muffin is not subtle 14:38, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
I re-read the sentence I claimed to not understand and saw myself for a fool. Perhaps a little more geographical context would be better. Or a map! I would go crazy for a map. PanydThe muffin is not subtle 14:40, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
@Panyd: ALT1 is pretty catchy. I'd be fine with that. There's also a map now, but it doesn't look very good at 100x100 pixels. I formatted your proposed hook a bit. --Jakob (talk) 18:54, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
As I said with the other, I more meant for illustration purposes in the article. Helps with reading! Please review! PanydThe muffin is not subtle 20:20, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
If ALT1 is to be used, should it be made a double DYK (Template:Did you know nominations/Negro Hollow)? MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 21:20, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
@Mandarax: I was considering that myself. I think it would work. --Jakob (talk) 21:29, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
  • @Panyd: A review for ALT2 would be great. --Jakob (talk) 22:00, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
  • - Having already gone through both articles, I can happily say that they meet all criteria, and although there was some reservation regarding some of the content, things seem to have been shaken up and maps have been added for better reading comprehension. I would say let's go with ALT2 sans map for the hook. Having said that, I'm tagging @BlueMoonset:, because I'm not entirely sure my hook is valid. • You're right, @Panyd: per Rule H2, you cannot approve your own hook. Could another reviewer take a look at this? Yoninah (talk) 00:21, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Perhaps you could review the articles, Yoninah? --Jakob (talk) 00:30, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
  • Sure. (I was working on prep sets when I left that note, but now I'm free.) Both articles are new enough, long enough, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. ALT2 hook fact appears in both articles and is verified and cited inline. 2 QPQs done. ALT2 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 01:49, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
