- Article is long enough (2775 characters), new enough (created 14 November, nominated 17 November), and article is within policy
- Hooks are short enough, interesting, and well cited. However, AssociateAffiliate please can we use "Minor Counties Cricket Championship" rather than "Minor Counties Championship"- it's not at all obvious from the hooks that they relate to cricket, so may confuse readers. And it's good practice to put the sport name in the hooks, rather than assuming everyone knows what sport we're talking about
- QPQ done
- Only issue is I think cricket should be in the hooks. Once resolved, I can pass this nom. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:01, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- Reply: Sure, I've changed the hook. Makes sense to include cricket, I guess excluding 'cricket' is just me as a cricket editor assuming people know it's to do with cricket! Thanks for the review Joseph2302. StickyWicket (talk) 13:19, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

- Hi, I came by to promote this. An inline cite is needed for this hook fact. Is that all there is? Perhaps adding a clause about some other career accomplishment would jazz up the hook. Yoninah (talk) 22:19, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
- Reply. Have added two inline cites. It's the most reliable source, ESPNcricinfo is considered an authoritative source for cricket history online. I don't think the hook needs jazzing up, the DYK is short and concise; so far as his cricket career, he didn't really have a notable one – his entire first-class career was one match. It was as an administrator he was better known, with his founding of the Minor Counties Championship in 1895 and transformation of Worcestershire from an amatuer to a professional side (with entry to the County Championship in 1899) being his most noteworthy achievements. The Minor Counties Championship still exists today and his role in forming it is lesser-known and, in my opinion, the more interesting of the two. StickyWicket (talk) 22:33, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
- Well, you know who he is; I don't. You could add something like:
- ALT2: ... that Paul Foley, who played one match in his first-class career, went on to co-found the Minor Counties Cricket Championship? Yoninah (talk) 22:59, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
- Reply. You know what? That doesn't actually sound too bad, maybe link first-class cricket too? StickyWicket (talk) 10:28, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. Link added. Joseph2302, would you mind reviewing ALT2? Yoninah (talk) 12:29, 25 November 2020 (UTC)

- Reply: Thanks Yoninah and Joseph2302, rather pleased with that hook! And now you know who Paul Foley is, was quite astonished when I found that he didn't have an article! All the best. StickyWicket (talk) 12:40, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
