Route of the 2nd Armoured Division
- ... that a series of bollards mark the route taken by the 2nd Armored Division during the Liberation of France? " ces bornes « Voie de la 2e DB », on en trouve déjà dans quelque 80 villes et villages de France traversés en 1944 par ces soldats français. L'initiative avait été lancée en 2004 par la Fondation Leclerc. Au total, ce seront 109 bornes qui retraceront le parcours du héros de la Libération jusqu'à Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin) là où Philippe Leclerc s'était promis, dès 1941, de « voir flotter le drapeau français au sommet de la cathédrale »." which I translate as "these are the "route of the 2nd Armoured Division" markers which we find in 80 towns of villages of France that were passed through by French soldiers in 1944. The initiative was launched in 2004 by the Leclerc Foundation. In total around 109 markers will mark the route of the heroes of the liberation to Strasbough (Bas-Rhin province) where Philippe Leclerc promised, in 1941, that he would "see the French flag flying above the cathedral" from Mansart, Larent (8 May 2017). "Saint-Cyr-l'Ecole : quand le Général Leclerc était en route pour la Libération". Le Parisien (in French).

Overall: This grabbed my attention! Great hook. It's only my third DYK review so a second opinion is welcome, but I think this is good to go. Mujinga (talk) 13:08, 21 April 2020 (UTC)
