Saddle Ridge Hoard[edit]

The Saddle Ridge Hoard

Created by Cindamuse (talk). Nominated by Theparties (talk) at 00:46, 28 February 2014 (UTC).

  • comment' largest in America is what the article's lede says Victuallers (talk) 23:23, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
  • For what it's worth, the source is also specific that it's gold coins, not gold in any other form:"It's believed to the biggest hoard of gold coins ever unearthed in the United States." — Maile (talk) 12:46, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
  • Theparties, please create new ALT hooks rather than edit the original ones. Right now, you have a hook that, assuming Maile is quoting a source, is a clear copyvio, and can't be used without quoting. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:27, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
  • Here's the source, and yes, I copied and pasted it above from the source. However, the lead in the article says " The collection is the largest known hoard of gold coins ever found in the United States" so that in itself is pretty close paraphrasing in the article. — Maile (talk) 18:37, 4 March 2014 (UTC)
  • As a courtesy, this nomination template has been transcluded on the article creator's talk page. — Maile (talk) 14:00, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
Suggest this Victuallers (talk) 15:12, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
  • I would be cautious about stating that this hoard is definitively the largest found in the US. At this point, it is only "believed to be". Others may want to view the additional images in my upload log. I have no qualms about choosing others for the article or DYK. Cindy(talk) 20:58, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
ALT2 ... that speculation about the origin of the Saddle Ridge Hoard includes theories involving American Old West outlaws Jesse James and Black Bart?
  • Full review needed, now that various hooks have been proposed. BlueMoonset (talk) 19:33, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
  • This interesting article is new enough and long enough. The image has an appropriate licence and both the alt1a and alt1b hooks are well referenced. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 13:31, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
