Samina Baig
[edit]... that Samina Peak was named after Samina Baig, the first Pakistani woman to climb Mount Everest when she conquered it as a 19-year old ?

- New enough, adequately referenced; unfortunately, it is not 1,500 characters long. 069952497aComments and complaintsStuff I've done 20:07, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
- Howdy. What a charming story! I added enough to bring it to over 300 words and 1800 chars. Can't review it myself now, but it seems good to go. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 04:33, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- Now long enough. It needs a bit of a tidy up, though, as a bio should talk about the subject by surname, not first name. It's clear of copyvio. New editor without QPQ requirement. The hook fails on a few fronts: it doesn't mention in the article that she was 19 when she climbed Everest, and the Samina Peak sentence isn't referenced directly, and it doesn't even state that this is now the name of the peak (it only says that the peak is named after her). - There is a reference for the naming of the peak after Samina now, but there seemed to be confusion over her d.o.b, the new and correct source states it was 19-09-1990, making her 22 years-old when climbing Everest. I guess the 19 year-old part of the hook refers to the conquering of Samina Peak, not Everest. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 15:05, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
ALT1: ... that Samina Peak was named after Samina Baig, who at the age of 22 became the first Pakistani woman to climb Mount Everest?
- The sentence that mentions "Samina peak" is not referenced, and peak is not capitalised; is the latter aspect to infer that it's a nickname for the mountain as opposed to something that has been officially renamed? It would also be of relevance, both for the article and the hook, in which country the mountain is located. And can I suggest that the article should either use a dmy or mdy date format, but not a mixture of both (this is not a DYK issue, though, but you might as well fix it)? - I've added a source for Samina Peak. Quote: In 2010 Baig became the first person to scale the 6,000-metre Chashkin Sar peak in northern Pakistan and the mountain is now named "Samina Peak" in her honour.[1] -- Hillbillyholiday talk 17:47, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
ALT1 is good to go. Could the person promoting the hook please consider whether the peak should be shown in italics? Schwede66 18:40, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- Note that the italics have now been removed, but without commenting on the template (just as an edit summary), and that makes my comment above look like that I'm suggesting the peak should be in italics. That is not the case. The peak was in italics, and my query was to consider whether it should rather be as normal text. Schwede66 23:04, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
- Ooops. Sorry, Schwede, my mistake. -- Hillbillyholiday talk 23:11, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
