  • ... that China's Five Water Gods may have originated from a misunderstood surname?
    • ALT1:... that three of China's Five Water Gods committed suicide?
    • ALT2:... that three of China's Shuixian Zunwang, five mortals revered as protective gods by sailors, ended their own lives with suicide?
    • ALT3:... that one of China's Five Water Gods attained his divine status by having his corpse dumped into a river in a leather sack?
    • ALT4:... that China's Five Water Gods are Yu the Great, Wu Zixu, Qu Yuan, Xiang Yu, and... um... the other one?
    • ALT5:... that the Shuixian Zunwang, prayed to by Chinese sailors for protection at sea, only became water gods from their connections to rivers?
    • ALT6:... that the Shuixian Zunwang, five mortals revered as gods by Chinese sailors, gained their divine powers from their connections to the Yellow, Qiantang, Miluo, and Wu Rivers?
    • ALT7:... that Wu Zixu, one of China's Five Water Gods, exhumed a king's corpse to punish it for the deaths of his father and brother?
    • ALT8:... that the Kings of the Water Immortals include an emperor, a poet, a warlord, an inventor, and an urban planner?

  • Comment: @Reviewers: Don't worry. You only need to source the hook(s) that most interest you.
Comment the Second: Really a new article but missed deadline cuz life and wanted to expand it a bit more. Have gotten it up past 5x, though these guys aren't very well covered in this role in English sources.

  • sufficient length, expanded 6x, well-sourced. First hook is interesting enough, and the source is verifiable - seems decent. Second and third hooks are interesting and verifiable, but a bit 'clickbait' (since they didn't commit suicide as gods but as well-known historical figures). ALT6 could use links. ALT7 is common knowledge to Chinese people and hence not very interesting (and it's more relevant to Wu Zixu alone than to the Five Water Gods in general).
