Starborough Castle[edit]

Date and length fine. Photo licensed. No copy vios. Offline refs #4 and #6 AGF. You need to reformat the ref for #5 (just make it more complete). Your source #2, on which you relied relatively heavily: an old friend. I happen to find the Gatehouse Gazetteer very informative and reliable. However, when I used it for Monmouth Town Walls and Defences earlier this year, I was shot down, and had to find alternate sources for all the information. Fun! Fortunately, I had some help. In this case, I say, let's use it. If anyone contests it, we can then start a discussion, because I do find it a valid source of info. Anne (talk) 20:13, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
I have concerns about the source of the hook fact. The cited ref is to a guide on cycle rides, which I would not regard as a scholarly historical source. I have spent a few minutes trying to find alternate sources, and while there seem to be lots of mentions of this fact in non-scholarly works, I have not found any reference which I would consider reliable.- The closest I got was the Gatehouse Gazetteer, which is used in the article for a ref to other points. It does carry a list of sources for further reading, but does not specifically reference any of the facts cited.
- Please can the creators of this article check for a scholarly reference? The notes in the Gatehouse Gazetteer include books which may be available in libraries. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 11:33, 10 September 2012 (UTC)
- PS The hook contains an anachronism. The linked Parliament of the United Kingdom was created in 1801. The Parliament at the time was that of a different country, the Kingdom of England. Its Parliament was the Parliament of England. If the hook fact can be verified, the link should be amended to

- PS The hook contains an anachronism. The linked Parliament of the United Kingdom was created in 1801. The Parliament at the time was that of a different country, the Kingdom of England. Its Parliament was the Parliament of England. If the hook fact can be verified, the link should be amended to
. Good to go. The two outstanding issues were: 1) an anachronistic link, which has been fixed; 2) an inappropriate source for a historical fact.
