... that Russian Vice-Admiral Vladimir Kasatonov has been involved in the search and rescue operations for three submarines: K-219 (pictured), Komsomolets and Kursk? Source: "In 1986 ... the Kirov participated in the rescue operation of the crew of the nuclear submarine K-219 ... In 1989 he participated in the rescue of the crew of the nuclear submarine Komsomolets ... In August 2000 he quickly discovered the location of the Kursk ... and until October 2000, he performed the tasks of the search and rescue, guard and defence forces of the area of the Kursk sinking."
