The Game Awards 2020 is an upcoming award show that honors the best video games of 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will not be held to a live audience as with previous shows and will instead be hosted virtually by Geoff Keighley on December 10, 2020.

Presentation

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, show creator Geoff Keighley did not want to host a normal ceremony for the 2020 awards and instead worked with his partners to develop a virtual show. The show will use three small soundstages at Los Angeles, London, and Tokyo. At each locale, there will be only minimal attendees, mostly related to production crew and presenters, with all nominees being notified prior to announcement if they have won an award. Keighley states this still allows them to include additional presentation events as with past shows, as well as explore taking the Game Awards to different venues in the future.[1][2] The presentation will be live streamed across 45 different platforms, and will be associated with sales on various game digital storefronts as with past shows.[3]

Awards

A new "Innovation in Accessibility" award was added for games or game technology that address accessibility features.[2]
