The Originals is an upcoming American television series that will air on The CW during the 2013–14 American television season. It will air on Tuesdays in the 8/7c timeslot before Supernatural starting in October 2013.[1]

Series overview

The Originals is a spin-off from The Vampire Diaries focusing on the Mikaelson siblings, who are also three of the world's original vampires, Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) in New Orleans. It was revealed during the backdoor pilot aired on April 25, 2013, that recurring character Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is pregnant with Klaus' child.[2] Now Klaus must take down his protege, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), who is now in charge of New Orleans, in order to keep his baby safe.

Production

On January 11, 2013, it was announced that a back-door pilot focused on the Originals, starring Joseph Morgan as Klaus titled The Originals will air sometime in April for a potential series pick-up for the 2013-2014 season. On April 26, 2013, 'The Originals' was confirmed for a full series [3] This second spin-off attempt is carried out by Julie Plec. There is no involvement by Kevin Williamson.[4] The Originals was officially picked up by the CW on April 26, 2013, for the 2013-14 season.[5]
