  • curprev 02:2902:29, 24 March 2020 Prakash Nadkarni talk contribs 10,273 bytes −90 Removed the false assertion that "alternate key" and "primary key" are synonyms of "unique key". There may be more than 1 unique key in a table (e.g., a surrogate/machine-generated key, plus a combination of columns whose values are unique for every row), but only 1 unique key may be designated as a table's primary key: the multi-column key is typically the alternate key, used to enforce UNIQUE constraints. Also simplified the CS-gobbledygook in 1st para, which interfered with understanding. undo
