University College of Science, Technology & Agriculture, also known as Rajabazar Science College, is one of the four main campuses of the University of Calcutta, in Kolkata, India.[2]

It was established in 1914 by the initiative of Sir Taraknath Palit and Sir Rash Behari Ghosh who were famous lawyer, education activist and prominent figure of India's freedom movement. It was established to house the post graduate science departments of the university.[3]

University departments

All the engineering and technological departments and some pure science departments run from the campus.[4]

Faculty of Science

The university offers a two-year M. Sc. degree in all the pure science subjects. Departments that are housed in the campus are Chemistry, Computer & Information Science, Electronic Science, Physics, Physiology, Psychology, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Applied Psychology, Biomedical Instrumentation(JAP-BMI), Bio Physics, Molecular Biology & Bioinformatics

Faculty of Engineering & Technology

The faculty consists of courses leading to a three-year (six semesters)[Now it is becoming a 4 years 8 semesters course of 10+2+4 through wbjee from 2015] B.Tech. which is offered to students already having a B. Sc. degree (10+2+3). M. Tech. courses are either two years (full-time) or three years (part-time) of duration.Part-time M.Tech courses are offered to the working professionals only.

1st year of 10+2+4 course[intake through WBJEE with top ranks after some good branches of JU] is studied in saltlake campus (crnn) of UCSTA(CU). CSE,IT,Optics department is totally shifted to saltlake(CRNN) campus of UCSTA(CU) with a great infra and worldclass faculties. It also offers a post B.Sc. three-year MCA programme.[3]
