2010–2015: The X Factor and One Direction[edit]

Harry Styles was born on February 1, 1994, and is a successful singer, songwriter, and actor. He began his journey in 2010 when he appeared on the hit show X Factor[1] and sang "Isn't She Lovely"[2] During his time in the X Factor, he was put into a group of four others, Zayn Malik[3], Niall Horan[4], Liam Payne[5], and Louis Tomlinson.

One Direction on X Factor

[6] Unfortunately, their group did not win, and they were runner up. Many fans were disappointed in this loss and hoped they would return soon. Simon Cowell[7] ( a judge on the show ) took note of this and noticed that this group of boys might be very successful if they were to continue. He later helped Harry Styles and the other boys to come back as a official boy band[8], One Direction[9]. This band were noticed all around the world and received countless awards and revenue. They were number one on multiple charts and broke recordsAs of 2020, One Direction have sold a total of 70 million records worldwide,[10] making them one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.[11] In 2013, they earned an estimated $75 million, becoming the second highest earning celebrity under 30 according to Forbes.[12] Forbes ranked them as the fourth highest-earning celebrities in the world in 2015,[13] and second in 2016.[14]The band has received seven Brit Awards,[15] seven American Music Awards,[16] six Billboard Music Awards,[17] five Billboard Touring Awards, and four MTV Video Music Awards,[18] among other awards. One Direction holds the record as the most awarded act at the Teen Choice Awards with 28 wins from 31 nominations.[19] Being the world's best-selling artist of 2013, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) named them the Global Recording Artist of the Year.[20] In 2014, Billboard named the band "Artist of the Year".[21].

Harry Styles ( first self-titled album )[edit]

Harry Styles remained in this band for 5 years before starting his own solo career. His first self-titled album ( Harry styles[22] ), came out on the 12th of May 2017. Before the entire album was released, Columbia Records[23] (Harry's record label) first released the hit single Sign of the Times[24], followed by Two Ghosts[25] and Kiwi[26] ( songs that were still on the album). ' Sign of the Times ' sold 142,000 copies (topping Digital Songs), earned 16.5 million streams and 23 million airplay impressions. This song was written by Harry Styles, Jeff Bhasker[27], Mitch Rowland, Ryan Nasci, Alex Salibian, and Tyler Johnson, and produced by Bhasker, Salibian, and Johnson. This strategic move lead to great excitement for the entire album. Harry Styles ( the album ) was the ninth global best-selling album of 2017 with sales of one million copies. It has been certified platinum in the US, Australia, Canada, Poland, and Mexico, and gold in nine countries, including the UK; all according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry[28] He later announced his tour of this album ( Harry Styles: Live on Tour[29] ) on 28 April 2017 and that it was going to be taking place on 19 September 2017 in San Francisco and concluding on 14 July 2018 in Inglewood. A total of 89 shows for this album.


Fine Line ( second album )[edit]

Two years later Harry Styles released second album, ' Fine Line[30] '. The album was released on 13 December 2019, by Columbia and Erskine, Styles's second to be released under the label. The standard edition was released on CD, vinyl, digital download and streaming. This album was supported by six very successful singles—"Lights Up[31]", "Adore You[32]", "Falling[33]", "Watermelon Sugar[34]", "Golden[35]" and "Treat People with Kindness[36]". All which were written or assisted by the men who wrote Harry's song, " Sign of the Times". ' Fine Line ' sold 393,000 copies in its debut week. Now this album has topped the latest Billboard chart[37] with the equivalent of 478,000 in sales, according to Nielsen Music[38] — the third-biggest total for an album in 2019. It has been certified double platinum in the US for combined sales and album-equivalent units of over two million units in the country. Fine Line received positive reviews from most music critics, particularly towards its production and stylistic influences. On his album which Harry Styles explained that his album was "all about having sex and feeling sad." After all the positive feed back about this one of a kind album, Harry styles announced on November 13, 2019 that he would be touring again. He performed a one night only, sold-out show in Los Angeles the day the album was released, thus starting the " Fine Line " era. The album's support tour, ' Love On Tour[39] ' had dates starting in 2020 but were postponed due to Covid- 19[40]. In June of 2020, Styles pushed back the North American leg of the tour, including the planned "Harryween" event, to 2021.


Life As An Actor[edit]

Dunkirk[edit]

Harry Styles made his feature film debut in Christopher Nolan's war film Dunkirk[41], in July 2017, playing a British soldier named Alex who is a part of the Dunkirk evacuation in World War II[42]. He appeared alongside an ensemble cast which included Fionn Whitehead[43], Tom Glynn-Carney[44], Jack Lowden[45], Kenneth Branagh[46], Cillian Murphy[47], Mark Rylance[48], and Tom Hardy[49]. Styles won the part over "thousands of young men"; Nolan later admitted he was unaware of the extent of his fame and that Styles was cast "because he fit the part wonderfully and truly earned a seat at the table. The Daily Telegraph[50] film critic, Robbie Collin[51], praised Styles for his "bright, convicted, and unexpectedly not-at-all-jarring performance".


Don't Worry Darling[edit]

Don't Worry Darling[52] is an upcoming American psychological fiction[53] film directed by Olivia Wilde[54]. The screenplay was written by Katie Silberman with Carey and Shane Van Dyke. It was announced in August 2019 that a bidding war amongst 18 studios was occurring to acquire the next project directed by Olivia Wilde. It was won by New Line Cinema the same month.[55][56] The screenplay appeared on the 2019 Black List.[57]

In April 2020, Florence Pugh, Shia LaBeouf and Chris Pine were added to the cast of the film,[58] with Dakota Johnson joining the next month.[59][60] In September 2020, Harry Styles joined the cast of the film, replacing LaBeouf who had allegedly dropped out due to a scheduling conflict.[61] However, it was later reported that LaBeouf had been fired by Wilde over poor behavior and clashing with the cast and crew.[62] In October 2020, Gemma Chan and KiKi Layne joined the cast of the film, with Layne replacing Johnson who had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict with The Lost Daughter.[63] That same month, Sydney Chandler, Nick Kroll, Douglas Smith, Kate Berlant, Asif Ali, Timothy Simons, and Ari'el Stachel joined the cast of the film.[64][65]

Principal photography began on October 20, 2020.[66] It was temporarily halted for two weeks on November 4 after a crew member tested positive for COVID-19.[67]
