[edit]

Gilkar Sahab was born Ali Muhammad Khar, to a poor family in Meer Mohalla, Nowhatta Srinagar, Kashmir. He is the son of Ustad Ghulam Muhammad Gilkar alais Khar. Your father worked hard to make a living. You had three brothers and two sisters. 1. Ustad Ghulam Ali Khar 2. Ustad Ali Mohammad 3. Ustad Habibullah Khar. Elder brother was about eight years old when your father Buzurgwar passed away. Then you were brought up by your mother and grandmother. Ali Sahab began to work at very little age with his brothers and earn to living together. You always looked for honesty in your hard work. Thanks to which a contractor rewarded you with two wooden boats for doing the job properly and honestly. [citation needed]

Legacy

[edit]

Despite the fact that you used to visit the Shrines, dervishes and teachers, But you did not see any truth about your demands. Eventually Mir Ghulam Sahib Andrabi took you in outward training and trained you. Apart from these, whatever spirituality insight you have got, you have got only by the grace of the saints. He wrote a book Kaleed-e-Ludni to enlighten the minds of people. Gilkar Saeb choose the poetry of few kashmiri Sufi Saints namely: Shamas Faqir Saeb (RA), Niama Saeb (RA), Mumin Saeb (RA), Soch Kral Saeb (RA), Qadir Saeb kehnai (RA), Rahim Saeb Sopore (RA), Rahman Dar Saeb (RA), Prakash Ram Saeb (RA), Lalleshwari (Lal Ded) (RA) and Nund Reshi (Hazrat Sheikh-ul Aalam) (RA). The number of followers of Gilkar Sahib and his companions is not possible because people of all Dharmas (Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs or Christians) used to come and go with Him. And they all quenched their thirst for knowledge of Muar’fat. But there are some comrades and disciples who were very respectful and close to Him namely: Aalam Shah RA (Harnag Islamabad), Ghulam Qadir Malik RA (Khanabal Islamabad), Muhammad Sultan RA (Sulla-Band Islamabad), Ali Muhammad Dar RA (Khanabal Islamabad), Shah Amin RA (Pulwama), Mustafa Ulvi (Kulgam), etc. Gilkar Sahib’s Mysticism has spread throughout the Kashmir Valley in such a way that it will continue till the Day of Judgment.
