Costume[edit]

Second Costume[edit]

The University maintains two Goldy costumes making it the only school to do so.[2] The two costumes were manufactured by different companies and so have slight differences in appearance.[2] The second costume was added in the early 1990s and was controlled by the University Relations Department where it mainly attended graduations, alumni events, and fund-raisers.[2] The University later put both costumes under control of the athletics department.[3]

Controversy[edit]

In 2006 the Queer Student Cultural Center asked that Goldy be present at their Lavender Graduation, something the mascot had done in the past.[3] However they were told that Goldy could not make appearances at political events and their request was denied.[3]
