Hello[edit]

I was wondering if you could delete a couple pages for me. They are pages that I made within my userpage, but are now blank (what I was trying to do, didn't work out).

If you could please knock those 4 pages out (please, of course, leave the rest under my userpage, as is), I would greatly appericate it. Take Care....NeutralHomer T:C 18:12, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Many Thanks....NeutralHomer T:C 18:22, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Promiscuous (song)[edit]

I noticed that you removed Promiscuous (song), which I had reviewed before, from WP:GAN and recommended taking it to WP:GA/R. Since it's been a week since the original review and the article seems to have undergone some major changes since then, do you still think a review would be the best way to go? It seems like there wouldn't be much discussion of what the article looked like then since there are some fundamental differences and new sections. ShadowHalo 23:40, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Template:Infobox Book[edit]

User_talk:Feydey Regarding [1], what exactly is wrong with this change? —Centrxtalk • 00:11, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

  • 1) Lack of prior discussion! 2) Unnecessary change for a trivial word choice, albeit one of equivalent terms. 3) The 'Ored' output was fine, though some may have been confused by it based on the comments. 4) But changing the default display for all pages without discussion was probably the bad thing.

I put up a compromise suggestion so you can have your druthers, and others can have things sans change on the talk. Be well! // FrankB 05:53, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Template Talk:Infobox Book[edit]

  • Can you give it a while and if nothing comes up in an objection on the talk, do the protected edit on the page per my cut and paste solution here. The talks got a three way test of the changes. I'll need it when I resume editing Ring of Fire (anthology) sometime tomarrow--I'm about to hit 2am and my beer and I are both done for the night! <G> Thanks. // FrankB 05:53, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Could you have a look at the talk about this before making all the changes. Most appear okay to me but the the "release date" "publication date" issue is a little more extensive than editors seem to suggest and the editor, co-author issue needs to be looked at a bit more. Multiple parameters have a problem with how many we stop at, anyway see the talk page for my full comments. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 09:00, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Fatherland (book)[edit]

Perhaps you could help with this one. It looks to me like an in-experienced editor has tried renaming the Fatherland (novel) article repeatedly, not even satisfied with the name he picked moved it on to another. Even after being challenged on the subject and his "blanking" of the article itself he then moved it to "Fatherland (book)" which is not the std dab form for novels. Now, other names could be used "Fatherland (Harris novel)", "Fatherland (1992 novel)" but each seem more than necessary. Could you have a look and please consider a move back to Fatherland (novel). It appears to need an admin's attention. Regards :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 09:00, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Deleted Fatherland (novel), moved Fatherland (book) to Fatherland (novel) with history preserved. feydey 09:12, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

June Newsletter[edit]

Thanks for your addition to the newsletter, just one observation though; William Money Hardinge is a novelist and such biographical articles are not in the project scope so it creates a little problem if we pick that. Do you have any alternatives.

Also worth saying I might not be about much for the next few day, in fact until about the 4th June so some of my normal monthly activities for the project might be delayed. If someone else wants to do them, that of course is perfect. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 09:13, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

True, I'll replace William Money Hardinge. No problem, when You get back after 4th of June just edit and send the newsletter then. feydey 09:16, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Collaboration[edit]

I doubt it, You could do it if you follow the procedure on the main collboration page. Some of it is a little tricky, but the main changes are straightforward. I can give it a once over when I get back. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 10:18, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

One other thing to mention the collaboration hasn't gone too well this time as someone early on removed our notice on the article. Then another unconnected set of editors started a major overhaul, with their own notice. Not really a problem but just not as coordinated as it could have been. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 10:20, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for doing this - just made a few adjustments to the talk page dates and also the history section but otherwise all handled very welll - thanks a bunch. Now all I have to do if fend off all this image, "fair use" stuff. Didn't realise I had uploaded so many images for covers etc. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 14:08, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Image:Contender (2000).jpg[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Contender (2000).jpg, by Grandpafootsoldier, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Contender (2000).jpg fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

image not needed

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Contender (2000).jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Contender (2000).jpg itself. Deleting images[edit]

First of all, if you would care to read Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion under the section labeled "images", you would see Redundant actually is a valid reason for deletion, as is Unused unfree image. Secondly, I am not putting these images up for deletion just for the hell of it. If you would actually bother to check out the pages they were originally on, you would see that a superior example image has already been added in their place, and they are no longer needed. Unless you have some strange love for orphaned fair-use images, there is no logical reason to keep them around. -- Grandpafootsoldier 09:57, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

It's funny, I've been putting images up for deletion in this way for probably six months now and you are the first person to make such a stink about it. Fine, if you want to be a such a bureaucrat about it be my guest. It just seems like a big waste of time to me however. As for Image:The Omega Man DVD cover.jpg the original reason I gave was a mistake, which is why I changed it the next time I put it up. Check out The Omega Man page if you want to see the image which replaced it. -- Grandpafootsoldier 10:28, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
I guess it's sometimes hard to read the guidelines correctly at 3:30 in the morning, oh well. Sorry to bother you, and thanks for showing me how to tag the images correctly. I'll try not to make that mistake again. -- Grandpafootsoldier 10:50, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Hello[edit]

Please do not remove pictures unless you plan on changing it or updating. Thank you.

Pub date[edit]

Not sure if you are about, but what I was afraid of has happened already and someone has changed only part of the "release date" issue and picked a parameter name out of keeping with the "short story" infobox. Could you use you admin powers to correct Template:Infobox Book. I have copied the code I believe needed from the "short story" version into the talk page and so it should work pretty much as is. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 08:13, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Contender (2000).jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Contender (2000).jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:33, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Live and Let Die (novel)- WikiProject Novels Colloborations, with WP:James Bond[edit]

I have nominated this for the WikiProject Novels, Colloboration of the Month so that with ours we can get this up to GA status. It needs a few votes, but I don't think it will get it within a day, but I'm trying.

It would be much appreciated if you gave your support to this. Thanks. SpecialWindler talk 07:16, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

Re: Napoleon Perdis[edit]

The Napoleon Perdis stub has been deleted, I'm not sure how this classified under (CSD A7(Bio)) as this is about a notable personality from Australia, who has got mentions in other wikipedia articles as well eg: "Greek Australian", "Australia's Next Top Model, Cycle 3". The article provides valuable background information about the company and the makeup artist's tv exposure.

Just Can't Get Enough lyrics[edit]

Write in my own words? Speedy deletion?? What are you talking about? You can't write lyrics in your own words and how can the article be deleted. Next time, be careful about the templates because they might say something completely different from what you wanted to say. Now, write to me again, WITHOUT a template so I can understand better.

Thanks.

Notability of Maun (band)[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Maun (band), by L (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Maun (band) seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Maun (band), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. DESERTBASH[edit]

You deleted the article with a dismissive statement that doesn't do well to explain the reason for deletion. Rather than present a long argument or even seek why you dismissed it out of hand, I point you to here LANageddon. ?

l.n 19:34, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Please read Wikipedia:Notability before adding events to Wikipedia. Best, feydey 19:36, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, see, that's not much help. All requirements for notability were met, except for the missing one that says Feydey must approve. Can you provide more than that?l.n 19:43, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
I disagree with the speedy deletion, and as such, would like to start a deletion review, unless you are able to indicate how notability requirements were not met. l.n 20:21, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
It's good to provide objective sources/reviews that the notability of the subject can be verified. Per WP:N "Substantial coverage in reliable sources constitutes such objective evidence, as do published peer recognition and the other factors listed in the subject specific guidelines."
This was the intro: DESERTBASH is the name of Arizona's largest LAN party. Based in Phoenix, DESERTBASH was founded in 2003 by members of LANCAMP. In the four years since its inception it has gained more media attention and sponsors. DESERTBASH 5, and the upcoming DESERTBASH 6, was hosted at Intel's Chandler, AZ, campus. Who says it is the largest? You? Your friend? Gained attention - again no sources.. And finally a plug for the next event. Nothing here has sources and notability has not been established. This lead to a speedy delete.
If You don't agree with Wikipedia:Notability guideline then be prepared to have these things to happen. Best, feydey 10:57, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me. I would request that you take a look at the article one more time and notice that I had media links included. Now, as it was an initial/first version of the page and also my first new page, it may not look like a "proper" wikipedia article, but that's what the refining public process is for, right? Perhaps those media links would be included in the proper places in the next edit of the page? Rome wasn't, as they say, built in a day. In any case, I don't see how it was any worse than (and would argue that, given the fact that I actually had some sources linked, it's far better than) LANageddon. l.n 15:42, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

"...Wikipedia: Meitei Family Names Message List No sure if wikipedia can host something like this but if so it is best to reuse an established free collaborative portal to hold such a list rather than host your own site .

So for those interested, can you please update as many meitei family names as you can in an alphabetic order. Those more familiar with the wiki format can then reformat the list in an appropriate legal manner.

If users can add other information related to each family name, it can then be structured in a proper format with links by others in a collaborative effort.

If we have such lists of all the NE ethnic groups, it will go a long way in paving the path for the NE people to know more about each other.

A similar page can be created for meitei names so that new parents can choose first or middle names with these meitei names.

Wikipedia:Portal peer review/Australian music[edit]

I've tried to make some of the changes suggested here. Could you please take a look at the portal again? Thanks, Dihydrogen Monoxide (H2O) 05:24, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Universal Sufi Prayers[edit]

The Morning prayers, as all Sufi prayers, are a spiritual practice, the wording of the prayers are not subject to copywrite, just because they are on a Sufi website does not mean that the website owns the words. The prayers were written when Hazrat Inayat Khan was alive, he died over 70 years ago.

Floodgates reopened on Rabbit[edit]

Since you unprotected Rabbit on Friday, the page already gone through 11 edits related to vandalism on Saturday and this morning. Normally, the page might see 11 edits in a week. Before the page was protected, it got hit often as well. I understand why it is desirable to minimize protected pages, but this does make it much more time consuming for an edit like me to monitor the quality of the page from legitimate edits. Thanks. --Ed Brey 12:47, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Semi-protected for 2 months, we'll see then. feydey 12:55, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
