B2s is a Dutch organisation of dance events, founded in 2001. The company finds its origin in the event back2school, which took place several times a year since 1996 and was the inspiration for the name of the company. The events of b2s are focused primarily on the harder styles in the electronic dance music like Hardstyle Oldschool Early Rave, Hardcore and Hard Techno.

History

The event back2school arose from the desire of Paul Elstak and Rob Jansen, known as DJ Paul and DJ Rob, to offer the visitors of the Rotterdamse club Parkzicht and so called Oldschool fans a new event focused on that specific music style. The concept toured several locations in Holland Nederland and now has Rotterdam as home base since 2000.

Development Hardstyle

After founding ‘b2s events’ the company heard potential in a new movement: Hardstyle. Together with Q-dance b2s fulfilled a pioneering role in the development of the genre and as one of the first major event organizers gave it a prominent spot at events such as Hard Bass, Decibel and Pussy Lounge. By programming artists from different countries, a mix of musical influences named Hardstyle developed. In 2012 b2s still plays a role in discovering new talent and musical developments within the genre and programmes new talent at events such as Euphoria and Loudness.

Hard Bass

Hard Bass is considered to be the first specific Hardstyle events. The event was first held at Tropicana Rotterdam in 2003. After a touring locations such as the Statenhal The Hague the Silverdome Zoetermeer, Jaarbeurs Utrecht and the Brabanthallen Den Bosch the concept eventually found a permanent base at the GelreDome Arnhem. Hard Bass is composed of four different teams of artists from the Hardstyle scene. Mostly from leading labels such as Scantraxx Recordz, Fusion Recordings, A² Records en Minus Is More.

Decibel outdoor festival

In 2002 b2s launched an outdoor festival where all hard music styles are brought together. The event was named Decibel outdoor festival. After a journey passing various locations Decibel found her place at the Beekse Bergen Hilvarenbeek in 2006. Decibel is b2s' comprehensive event: all indoor b2s concepts host their own area during the outdoor festival. Since 2011, Decibel is an event with a pre-and after-party respectively on the Friday before and the Sunday after the event.

Thrillogy

Thrillogy dates back to 2007, when b2s decided to feaure 3 artists from the harder dance styles with three showsof their own in one event. The artists are on stage throughout the entire evening and have a major say in the planning and decoration of their own areas. After four editions at the Brabanthallen Den Bosch Thrillogy moved to the Jaarbeurs Utrechtse in 2011.
