• An exhausted and emaciated American Bittern found on the west side of Bryher, Isles of Scilly. Recovered and kept in an avery at Tresco Abbey the skin is now on permanent loan to the Isles of Scilly Museum on St Mary's

• A red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus) left the RMS Queen Elizabeth when close to the Isles of Scilly on 22 October and stayed for three days feeding on Leach's petrel (Oceanodroma leucorhoa). The British Birds Rarities Committee (BBRC) has not accepted this record.
