Asian Correspondent is an English-language Internet newspaper and aggregated blog website covering 13 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Launched in October 2009 by the Hybrid News Group and the brainchild of managing director and former GDS International CEO James Craven ^[1], Asian Correspondent combines syndicated news content from the Associated Press, articles from established bloggers, correspondents from across the region and user contributions in its news delivery format ^[2]. The website covers politics, economics, new media, green and society issues, among other subjects.

Contributors[edit]

The majority of Asian Correspondent's content is delivered by a team of over 50 region-specific writers and bloggers. These contributors vary from politicians and masters of wine to new media experts and expats. In collecting content from a number of bloggers, Asian Correspondent earned comparisons to websites like the Huffington Post ^[3].

The site's regular contributors include, among others, Jeff Ooi, Andrew Bartlett, Jeannie Cho Lee, Ahirudin Attan, Randeep Hooda, Peter Scudamore-Smith, Sriram Vadlamani, Edwin Espejo, Paul Denlinger, Andy Jackson, Liau Chuan Yi, Norvin Chan, Atanu Dey, Nathan Schwartzman, Elmer Cagape, Paul Farol, Tonyo Cruz, Danny Arao, James Morgan, Clement Tan, Randall van der Woning, Bala Murali Krishna and Gerry O’Kane ^[4].

Asian Correspondent also publishes breaking news stories provided by the Associated Press.

Coverage[edit]

Asian Correspondent covers the Asia-Pacific region, with particular focus on: China, India, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Australia, Singapore and Taiwan ^[5].
