German: Das Deutsche Kulturzentrum Temeswar ([Centrul Cultural German Timișoara] Error: {{Lang-xx}}: text has italic markup (help)) ist eine kulturelle Einrichtung an der Strada Augustin Pacha Nummer 2, im I. Bezirk Cetate der westrumänischen Stadt Timișoara. Das Deutsche Kulturzentrum Temeswar wurde 2002 als öffentlich-private Partnerschaft zwischen dem Auswärtigen Amt und der Robert Bosch Stiftung gegründet. Der lokale Träger ist die Rumänisch-Deutsche Kulturgesellschaft.

English: The German Cultural Centre Timisoara (Romanian Centrul Cultural German Timişoara) is located in Augustin Pacha Street number 2, in the 1st district Cetate of the western Romanian city of Timişoara. The Centre was founded in 2002 as a public-private partnership between the Federal Foreign Office and the Robert Bosch Foundation. The local sponsor is the Romanian-German Cultural Society.

Geschichte

German: Im Januar 2001 wurde die Rumänisch-Deutsche Kulturgesellschaft von 17 Persönlichkeiten des öffentlichen Lebens gegründet, mit dem Ziel ein Deutsches Kulturzentrum für Temeswar und Umgebung zu schaffen. Vorsitzende der Kulturgesellschaft ist Elke Sabiel, die ehemalige Leiterin der Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Rumänien, während das Kulturzentrum selbst von Alina Baciu geleitet wird.

Schwierigkeiten gab es, als sich die Robert-Bosch-Stiftung als Hauptförderer zurückzog und die Kulturzentren aus Rumänien sich finanziell selbstständig machen mussten. Sprachkursabteilungen wurden seither ausgebaut und sichern so den Kulturzentren ein regelmäßiges Einkommen. Zudem werden Kulturprogramme angeboten, die ein aktuelles Deutschlandbild vermitteln. Deutsche Kulturzentren gibt es neben Temeswar auch in Klausenburg, Kronstadt, Hermannstadt und Iași.

History

English: The Romanian-German Cultural Society was founded by 17 public figures in January 2001, with the aim of creating a German Cultural Centre for Timisoara and the surrounding areas. The president of the cultural society is Elke Sabiel, the former director of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Romania, while the cultural centre itself is managed by Alina Baciu.

The Romanian-German Cultural Society faced financial difficulties when the Robert Bosch Foundation withdrew as the main sponsor and the cultural centres in Romania had to become financially independent. In order to ensure a regular income for the cultural centres, the society has created language course departments and cultural programmes that convey an up-to-date picture of Germany. Other German cultural centres are located in Cluj-Napoca, Brasov, Sibiu and Iași.

German: Die Aufgaben der Kulturgesellschaft und des Kulturzentrums sind die Förderung der deutschen Sprache, die Vermittlung eines aktuellen Deutschlandbildes und die Förderung der deutsch-rumänischen Kulturbeziehungen durch Ausstellungen, Lesungen, Konzerte und Literaturangebote. Das Team hat es sich zum Anliegen gemacht, neue Wege zu eröffnen und Kontakte zwischen Menschen aus Deutschland und Rumänien, aber auch in Temeswar und im Banat zu fördern.

Das Kulturzentrum kooperiert lokal, landesweit und international mit verschiedenen Partnern, deutschen und rumänischen Kultur- und Bildungseinrichtungen, anderen europäischen Kulturzentren, städtischen und regionalen Einrichtungen, Galerien, Stiftungen und verschiedenen Nichtregierungsorganisationen sowie internationalen Partnerorganisationen.

English: The objectives of the Cultural Society and the Cultural Centre are to promote the German language, to convey an up-to-date picture of Germany and to promote German-Romanian relations through exhibitions, readings, concerts and literature. The team is concerned with promoting contacts between people from Germany and Romania, but also between Timisoara and Banat.

The Cultural Centre cooperates locally, nationally and internationally with various partners, German and Romanian cultural and educational institutions, other European cultural centres, municipal and regional institutions, galleries, foundations and various non-governmental organisations, as well as international partner organisations.

Tätigkeit

German: Das Deutsche Kulturzentrum ist in die Abteilungen Sprache, Bibliothek und Kulturarbeit aufgeteilt. Der Schwerpunkt liegt in der Sprachabteilung mit 600 Schülern jährlich. Die Sprachabteilung des Deutschen Kulturzentrums bietet Sprachkurse verschiedener Schwierigkeitsstufen an sowie die Möglichkeit Sprachprüfungen mit Zertifikat am Goethe-Institut Bukarest abzulegen. Die Sprachabteilung sichert dem Kulturzentrum durch ein regelmäßiges Einkommen eine gewisse finanzielle Selbstständigkeit.

Die Bibliothek bietet eine aktuelle Auswahl an Büchern, Zeitschriften und audiovisuellen Medien in deutscher Sprache in einer großen Bandbreite an Sachgebieten, wie Kultur, Künste, Geschichte, Geographie, Philosophie, Deutsche Sprache, deutschsprachige Literatur mit Schwerpunkt 20. und 21. Jahrhundert, Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft. Die Kinder- und Jugendbibliothek bietet neben einem umfangreichen Repertoire an Büchern auch eine Reihe von Gesellschaftsspielen. Das Lehrmittelzentrum ist eine speziell auf pädagogische Bedürfnisse zugeschnittene Abteilung der Bibliothek. Es verfügt über eine große Auswahl an Literatur zur Methodik und Didaktik des Deutschunterrichts, Textbüchern, Lehrwerken und Videos für Lehrzwecke, die vom Goethe-Institut entwickelt wurden. Eine Leseecke und ein PC-Arbeitsplatz mit Internetzugang stehen zur Verfügung.

Die Kulturabteilung beteiligt sich, neben der Organisation von eigenen Projekten, auch an größeren Veranstaltungen in Temeswar. Sie organisiert Ausstellungen, Konzerte, Lesungen deutscher bzw. deutschsprachiger Autoren, Film- und Theatervorstellungen, Seminare und Vorträge, ebenso Workshops für Schüler und Studenten. Die Veranstaltungen sind in der Regel zweisprachig und finden im Kulturzentrum und auch außerhalb statt. Das Deutsche Kulturzentrum beteiligt sich regelmäßig an der Organisation größerer kultureller Veranstaltungen in Temeswar, wie Festivals, Ausstellungen und Konzerte.

What the Centre offers

English: The German Cultural Centre Timisoara is divided into three departments: language, library and cultural work. The focus is on the language department where 600 students are enrolled every year. The language department of the German Cultural Centre offers language courses of various difficulty levels as well as the opportunity to take language examinations with a certificate at the Goethe-Institut Bucharest. The language department ensures the cultural centre a certain degree of financial independence through a regular income.

The library offers an up-to-date selection of books, journals and audiovisual media in German in a various number of subject areas, such as culture, arts, history, geography, philosophy, German language, German-language literature with a focus on the 20th and 21st centuries, society and economy. The children's library offers an extensive repertoire of books and a various number of board games. The teaching materials centre is a department of the library specially created for educational purposes. It has a large selection of literature on the methodology and the didactics of teaching German, including textbooks, study kits and videos developed by the Goethe Institut. The centre also provides a reading corner and a PC workstation with Internet access.

In addition to organizing its own projects, the cultural department also participates in major events in Timişoara.
