[edit]Despite having joined on June 28, 2006, I'm still quite the newbie here. I haven't done much editing or creating - I'm far too prone to procrastination - but hope to change that soon.
About Me
[edit]Background & Beliefs
[edit]I was born in 1986 on Randolph Air Force Base near San Antonio, Texas, but my hometown is Colorado Springs, Colorado.
I was raised in an Evangelical Christian/Baptist household, so I know a fair amount about the religion, though I consider myself an Agnostic at present.
I'm a feminist as well. My political beliefs involve my being socially liberal, in general.
Education
[edit]In middle and high school, I was in the International Baccalaureate Programme.
I'm a student at The University of Tulsa, working towards B.A.s in English literature and the Spanish language. During the 2005-2006 academic year, I studied at The University of Oxford, at Worcester College. I hope to go back there for graduate school, if I can afford it. I plan to get an M.A. and PhD in English and probably become a college professor, unless I'm brave enough to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing and try being a novelist or poet. My research interests include Modernist literature, Feminist literary criticism, and Magical Realism. That's right, I do prefer the serial comma.
And oh god, I'm such a nerd.
Interests
[edit]I have an eclectic taste in music, although I'm fanatic when it comes to the Dave Matthews Band and Ani Difranco.
My favorite books include One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Handmaid's Tale, The Blind Assassin, Mrs. Dalloway, The God of Small Things, and Cat's Eye. As you might have guessed, I'm a big fan of Margaret Atwood. One of my favorite poems is "Aristotle" by Billy Collins.
I watch a fair amount of movies and probably too much TV, but only the good stuff, like Six Feet Under, The Daily Show, and House.
I love to travel. I recently went to Prague and it changed my life. Sort of.
I speak Spanish, though not quite fluently, and hope to learn Italian and French in the near future.
