Career

[edit]

Work

[edit]

Dan Lam's sculptures are primarily derived from Polyurethane foam, acrylic paints and occasionally, resins. [5]

She starts every new piece with a loose idea of its physical structure and allows the unpredictable nature of the foam, combined with the force of gravity, to determine its shape.[6]

The results are squishy and blob-like sculptures that are shiny, sparkly, and drippy; resembling otherworldly, exotic organic matter.[7][8]

She has also experimented with thermochromic paints to make her sculptures interact with the audience by changing colors depending on the room's temperature and human touch.[9][10]

Solo Exhibitions

[edit]

In 2017, Dan Lam showcased her work in a solo-exhibition organized by Spoke Art, an art gallery in San Francisco, USA.[11]

In October 2018, she was exclusively featured at "Infinite Playground", which was a solo exhibition held at Stephanie Chefas Projects in Portland, Oregon.[12]

Artist-in-residence

[edit]

Dan Lam was admitted into Fairmont Hotel's artist-in-residence program in 2018.[13][14]

She was also at Teton Artlab as an artist-in-residence.[15]

Recognition

[edit]

Dan Lam works were on display during the Art Basel fair in 2016.

In 2017, her works were showcased at the "Candy Castle" exhibition hosted at the Texas based art gallery: Fort Works Art.[16]

That same year, her works were featured at the Scope Art Fair in Basel, Switzerland.[17]

Her sculptures have also found their way to other galleries like GuyHepner, BlackBook and the Spoke Art gallery in San Francisco.[2][18][19]

Notable art collectors and celebrities like the Tisch family, Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge and Mily Cyrus are among individuals who have personally collected some of her works.[16][20][21]
