InnerSpace Explorers (ISE) is a scuba diving organization, founded by Achim R. Schlöffel in 2008 that provides education within recreational, technical, cave and wreck diving [1]. ISE build upon its the previous 14 years in Hogarthian and DIR, wanted to keep its standardization and minimalist approach with the "tool" of open-circuit back-mount (DIR) but increase the "tool set", with sidemount and closed circuit rebreathers.
ISE, owned by Coastal Development & Marine Consulting Ltd & Co KG sees itself an elite technical diving training agency similar to Global Underwater Explorers. Before 2007 the founder Achim Schlöffel was a GUE Tech 2 instructor. Schlöffel holds the world record of crossing the English Channel between England and France, under 10 hours while diving.[2] [3]
==Declared mission==[4] InnerSpace Explorers was founded to support divers around the world, in their desire to receive the best training available. ISE offers the most demanding, challenging and intense training in the industry. Our training is free from all the marketing related advertising style contents, that you may find elsewhere. We are strictly focused on no nonsense education to enhance the thrill, safety and ultimately the fun of 'Your Passion'. InnerSpace Explorers is an elite technical diving training agency with a strong passion for real underwater exploration and the conservation of the underwater world. ISE believes that every diver willing to learn and train should have the opportunity to participate in what he or she trained for: Exploration of the Innerspace.
Training
[edit]ISE is a DIR-minded training agency that stands for tough but fair training.[5] ISE emphasises critical skills, strongly believing that technical diving training should be tough so that students can figure out during training whether the student is mentally and physically capable and able to handle the stresses involved.
ISE's most popular training is based on a foundational course "Basics of Exploration" (BoE), which can be done in Open Circuit Backmount, Open Circuit Sidemount or Closed Circuit Rebreather. The course is designed to introduce ISE to non-ISE divers and is the stepping stone to technical courses.Further courses are offered in technical, wreck and cave diving, as well as other based exploration diving courses.
Certifications
[edit]Certifications are limited to three years, after which the diver has to renew by proving to an instructor that the diver is still capable and possess the skills for which the diver is certified. Especially in technical diving, that is deemed important. The same principle applies to instructors.[5]
